Now that Christmas has passed, I'm sure that some of you were on the nice list, and may have even been given a new white UniBody MacBook. If that is the case, then this is the contest for you!

Just so you know, the clear case has been opened as I used that for my review posted earlier today, however everything that came with the case is intact. The contest closes on January 11th, 2010 at 12pm, which is UTC/GMT -8. Winners will be contacted via private message in the forum and will have 72 hours to claim their prize from time of notification. SBSH SafeWallet: Win a Free Copy!

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 07:00 AM

http://sbsh.net/products/apple_iphone/safewallet

SBSH has very graciously offered us two copies of SafeWallet to give away to you all!

Yesterday I posted my review of SBSH SafeWallet and I was very impressed with it. Now it's your turn to get yourself a free copy of both the iPhone / iPod Touch app and the accompanying Windows Companion (which also includes importing, so if you're moving from one of the other applications out there or migrating from a Windows Mobile device, this will probably be a big relief for you!) all for leaving a comment on this post!

In your comment tell us A: what you're going to protect, or B: what app you're migrating from (and if it's another platform, note it so we can all share in your indoctrination into the cult!). Winners will be chosen randomly from all the submissions. Unfortunately because of Apple's system, you have to be a US App Store user to use the promo codes if you win, but if you've found a way around that, that's your business!

There you have it. The rules are simple. We'll end this contest at 11:00pm Eastern Time Friday July 31st and the winners will be announced on Monday (but I'll be in touch over the weekend to get some details for you to send you your respective codes).

Good luck and a special thanks to our friends at SBSH for providing the copies for the giveaway!

Aspects Contest Reminder

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 01:00 PM

http://forums.thoughtsmedia.com/f38...ouch-94498.html

Don't forget about our contest for Codesparq's Aspects, the exceptional Aspect Ratio Calculator for the iPhone and iPod Touch. All it takes is a comment here on what you plan to use it for and that's it. 3 winners will be chosen at random and get a free copy of the app!

Note: the comment must be about what you're going to do with the app. General discussion on the app itself is fine in that thread, but it won't count as a contest entry.

Good luck, and as I said earlier, there are plenty more contests on the way so keep reading!

We're going to pick a winner on Wednesday of next week.

As I was sitting here this morning, I realized I had some prizes to give away! We picked the winners already and completely forgot to actually give away the prizes!

Firstly, the Winner... mwfielder for getting the most predictions correct.

And the winner, unanimously, for most out on a limb for being a complete smart___ is long-time reader, commenter, and sarcastic genius, doogald with this prediction:

And, of course, his followup:

Feel Like Designing a MacBook Skin? Here is Your Chance

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Laptops" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2009/07/14/infe...st-for-new-lap/

"If you'd like to see your design on a laptop and earn a little extra money to boot, head over to Infectious and check out their Cut to the Core design contest."

Ever feel like you could do a better job at designing a MacBook skin than whoever designed the last one you purchased? Well now you have that opportunity. The folks at Infectious have a contest called "Cut to the Core Design Contest" and they want your entry for a new MacBook/MacBook Pro skin. The contest is open until August 4th and you can win a cool $1,000.00 US for first prize, along with $100.00 US of Infectious products and 5% of the net sales from your product. Not a bad deal.

WWDC is Coming... Time For Predictions and a Contest!

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Talk" @ 06:00 AM

Alrighty, folks.  WWDC is upon us, so you have the whole weekend to get your predictions on the record.  I have some beautiful Vaja and Senna iPhone 3G cases in my goodie bag to give away, so here's what we're going to do...

In the comments section, leave 3-5 predictions for WWDC.  We'll give away one case to a random commenter, and one case to the person who went most out on a limb and hit a nail on the head.  The cases are valued anywhere from $30 to $75 so this is a good giveaway for you all to take part in, and it's pretty easy stuff.

Rules:

1.  Minimum 3 predictions per post. One entry per thread, although you're welcome to post as much as you want, we'll only count one post.

2.  Open to residents of the US and Canada only for the cases but international readers can have a $35 electronic Amazon gift certificate if they happen to win.

4.  Editors of the site will judge whose predictions were best including whether or not they just repeated what we already knew.  More weight will be given to those that don't predict the obvious.

5.  Don't flood the comments section with multiple lists of predictions just to win the "random reader" prize.

6.  All decisions are final.

7.  No whining!

Good luck, and here's to a great WWDC!

Hey Architects, Design an Apple Store

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2009/05/14/cont...ed-apple-store/

"Chicago's Halsted Street will soon be the site of a unique Apple Store -- the first with three sides exposed. When seated on the odd piece of land, the store will offer visibility from every direction and 650 linear feet of storefront."

The folks over at ifoAppleStore.com have this nifty little contest in which you design-types might have an interest. This space is a triangle shaped swath of land and they want to see what you can do with the space. Its all about the exterior, but if you want to go the extra mile and do something about the interior feel free. The contest runs until June 15th, and the winner will receive a $100.00 USD Apple Gift Card. This is only for the site and not for Apple, and anything submitted is considered under Creative Commons license.

Fast Typing in Fast Cars. Love it.

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 11:00 AM

http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105...10230160-1.html

"When Crave UK gets bored, odd things happen. We'll fly RC planes through the streets, we'll dress up in costumes and expose our cleavages, hell, we'll even drag a big-ass 20-inch laptop through the London Underground--just for kicks. We think you'll agree our latest stunt continues this tradition of recklessness. In the video above, we decided to pit an iPhone against a Netbook to see which is the true king of mobile productivity. Rather than attempt this stunt on a train or in a coffee shop, we thought we'd do it in the back of a $1.47 million rally car. Yup, that's how we roll."

And there you have it... The iPhone is the king of fast typing.

Or maybe not, but it was probably really fun working it out!

Win a Copy of Bubble Shuffle!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 09:30 AM

"Bubble Shuffle is a fun undersea-themed word-building game perfect for adults and children. Every level is a puzzle for you to solve, with a word made out of bubbles that has been shuffled."

Thanks to the fine folks at Astraware, we have 3 copies of Bubble Shuffle to giveaway to our readers (US iTunes App Store only). In order to win one of these fun wordplay games, it couldn't be simpler.

I did the review on the game so I obviously played it. How well did I do? How much skill as a wordsmith do you think I have? All you have to do is put on your guessing cap and reply to this post with the number of words, out of 216, that I was able to guess. I was able to get to level 14 before the game ended but how many words did I actually guess?

The closest 3 answers will win a copy of Bubble Shuffle, all posts must be in by midnight EST on Tuesday February 24th.

Good Luck!

Sena Giveaway Is Officially Over

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Thoughts Site Updates" @ 10:00 AM

And with that, contest number one goes down to the history books. We'll be picking the winner this afternoon and announcing it on Friday, 1/2/09 along with our next contest. Good luck to everyone who entered!

It's that time of year again!

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Thoughts Site Updates" @ 06:52 AM

'Twas the day before the giveaways and all through the site...

Santas were dancing on a background of white.

The Mac fans were reading in hopes of some news

While the iPhone and iPod fans sought out reviews.

And then came the sound that we wanted to hear

From the man in the red suit with lots of reindeer.

So some friendly advice to all I'll relay,

There's one thing that you can do before our giveaway.

Whether a joiner or whether a quitter,

You'll want to follow @applethoughts on good old Twitter.

Tomorrow we give you a tweet to reshare,

And our editors' eyes will be watching you there.

For some of you tweeting, a gift will be coming.

For those that ignore, you won't be in the running.

Now go forth and join and read our opining,

and remember the rules, most important, no whining.

Multiple giveaways starting tomorrow...

And given at random to those who follow.

Instructions are coming, so please watch this space,

Randomness, surprises, and giveaways are all on their way.

But for now I must go and I must prepare

and make sure our prizes are all wrapped with care.

It's Christmas at Apple Thoughts, your favorite Mac site,

and the gifts are for you, Merry Christmas, good night.
