Verizon and AT&T Compared

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "The Competition" @ 04:00 AM

http://mashable.com/2011/04/05/att-...n-iphone-users/

"Now that the Verizon iPhone has been out for a few months, what do its owners think of the device?"

Both sets of customers appear pretty satisfied according to this study, with 80% satisfaction rate for AT&T customers to 82% satisfaction rate by Verizon customers. An interesting contrast to this is that 46% of those thinking of purchasing an iPhone 4 in the future would buy it through Verizon versus going with AT&T (and I suppose T-Mobile if the merger goes through). Clear winner in the dropped calls category was Verizon, with only 1.8% of their calls dropped versus 4.8% of AT&T calls that were dropped. I'm not sure how many total calls were made with each provider, but that doesn't seem like a lot of calls to me, although if it were an important call one drop would be bad news.

Apple Tops For Customer Service

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 12:00 PM

"Consumers were happier with their online shopping experience at Apple's site this holiday season than at any other computer or electronics maker, a customer satisfaction measurement company said Wednesday."

Apple's score went up 5% from the same time in November and December 2009, and the score of 82 was also higher than their score in 2008 and 2007. ForeSee surveyed 10,000 visitors to the top 40 retail online sites ranked by annual revenue. When you bring in all e-tailers to the rankings, Amazon.com scored highest with 87, followed by Netflix with 86 and QVC with 83.

iPhone Tops J.D. Power Survey Again

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 07:00 AM

"If there's a name associated with customer satisfaction, it's J.D. Power and Associates. I mean, come on-with a name like J.D. Power, the firm is practically the superhero of customer satisfaction. So the news that the iPhone has maintained its head-of-the-class standings in both the company's consumer and business smartphone satisfaction studies is no small matter."

The iPhone received 811 points out of 1000 possible, whereas the industry average is 765. LG was the closest out of the competition receiving 776 points. Apple, as a business, scored 803 points, followed by RIM with 724 points. The iPhone survey was from 3,221 smartphone owners, who had used their phones less than two years. For the business survey they used owners that used their phones primarily for business use. Interestingly enough, they did the surveys before the 3G and 3GS came out.
