Best Buy Deals on iTunes Gift Cards

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 11:03 AM

http://www.edibleapple.com/2011/12/...+(Edible+Apple)

"It's not quite as good as the deal Walmart recently had, but bargain shoppers might be glad to now that Best Buy is currently running a 15% off sale across their entire line of iTunes gift cards."

Not bad if you need some credit on your iTunes account, 15% is nothing to sneeze at right? If you go for the $100.00 USD gift card you will only be out of pocket $85.00 USD. Check the deal out at Best Buy but don't delay, no idea when this deal will be over.

Get FiOS and Get a Gift Card

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 04:00 AM

http://www.iphonealley.com/news/rec...os-subscription

"If you are in the market for a new cable, internet, and phone provider, you may have another reason to choose Verizon FiOS. Heck, even if are interested in buying an iPhone 4 anytime soon, you may now have a reason to be interested in Verizon FiOS if you were not already."

If you are interested in a $200 Verizon rewards card with plan discounts is the reason you may be interested in FiOS. With the $200 gift card you can basically trade it in on a 16GB iPhone 4, or use it on some other equipment that Verizon sells (but why wouldn't you want an iPhone right?). I suppose you could always hang on to it and wait to use it on an iPhone 5, but I haven't checked on the restrictions yet. If you want more info, head on over to this page at Verizon.

$50 iTunes Gift Card for $40

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.9to5mac.com/43313/apple-...e+Intelligence)

"Best Buy offers the Apple iTunes $50 holiday Gift Card for $40 with free shipping. That's $10 off and tied with Best Buy's Black Friday deal for one of the best deals we've seen on iTunes gift cards this year. Ships in time for Christmas."

Not a bad deal if you need a last minute stocking stuffer. It appears from the product page at Best Buy though, you can only do in-store pickup, thus no wonder it will be available for Christmas! Still it is worth it if you have a Best Buy in your area and the online ordering allows you to choose your store.

Get Your iPad Gift Card at Apple

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 11:00 PM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2010/12/...pad-gift-cards/

"Gift cards emblazoned with the name "iPad" on them have been spotted at retailers across the United States. The cards, which aren't any different than standard Apple gift cards, are being released in time for the holidays."

Apparently you can use these for anything Apple sells, they just put the cards in these fancy holders. What they have also changed is that they now accept their own gift cards when purchasing an iPad. Seems like a no-brainer, but previously to issuing these, Apple only allowed you to purchase an iPad with a debit or credit card.

Careful Using That iTunes Gift Card

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.macnn.com/articles/09/06...les.fake.cards/

"Apple is quietly combating fraudulent iTunes gift card offenders, writes the Washington Post."

Basically what it boils down to, is after using some cards purchased on eBay, people have been finding that their iTunes accounts have been shut down. According to Apple they should have received an email advising them that it was going to happen so they could back up their music but according to some affected, it hasn't been happening. Buyer beware is very appropriate here. In my personal opinion, they should have known what they were getting into by purchasing a card on eBay at a discount, it just smells like a scam to me, but I'm not a very trusting person.

If Only They Could Spell iTunes

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.appleinsider.com/article..._algorithm.html

"$200 iTunes Gift Certificates are selling for less than $3 in China now that a group of local hackers has circumvented Apple's algorithm for creating the digital vouchers and built their own gift certificate generators."

Apparently you don't actually get the "card" per se, you get sent a code sent to you that is supposed to work in the iTunes store. This is becoming big business and they are selling them now for about $2.00 USD since so many are doing it (that old supply and demand equation). According to music industry site Outdustry, 6 months ago they were selling for about $50 USD. Adding to the pressure to make as many sales as they can is the belief that Apple will soon come up with a software fix for the algorithm trick they are using to get these codes to work on iTunes. Some have been found on ebay for use with the US iTunes store so it doesn't appear this is strictly an overseas problem.
