Is the iPod Classic Dead? All Signs Sure Point to That Don't They?

"So, the iPod classic...

Today brought us the news of the removal of the iPod click wheel games from the iTunes Store. Even casual observers ask themselves whether that's another clue of the beleaguered music player heading to the technology graveyard."

Yea, this plus no upgrades for over two years seems like to me that this little magical device has run it's course. Sad but with all the other devices out there it doesn't seem like it is really needed. Well, I still have a need since I put all my music on mine and have it in my glovebox so I can listen to all of my music in my car. Perfect use for it! What are your thoughts about this magical device, do you still use yours?

Thanks for the Ride iOS 2.X

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 08:00 AM

"Apple has announced via their iOS Developer newsfeed that iOS apps that were developed and compiled for iOS 2.x will no longer be supported."

Developers are also being told that, if their apps aren't rebuilt in Xcode targeting iOS 3.x or later they risk getting their apps removed from the iTunes store. Time to move on developers.

So Long 3G iPhone, Been Nice Knowing You

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 05:00 AM

"We had some good times, iPhone 3G. You launched in 2008, and we promptly ding-dong-ditched EDGE and explored a wild new App Store. Hey, we even still had SMS bundled with data. Remember that? But Apple stopped selling you almost two weeks ago, and now AT&T says your time has come up."

Looks like the end of the road for the 3G, at least from retail. Not a big surprise here, just another hint of things to come today.
