iPhone 3.0: Spotlight

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 12:00 PM

Many long time Palm owners will tell you that one of the best features of the old Palm OS was device-wide search. When I was a Palm user, I used it all the time and it seems like Apple realized that.

Firstly, they've added individual app searching to Mail, Calendar, Messages, Notes, Contacts, and iPod. On top of that, if you flick to the left of your first home screen, you'll see a new dialog where you can type a search term and all relevant results from all supported applications will appear below. In the demo, the point was made that if you have a lot of applications, this might be a faster way to find them.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this one works because this seems like a truly useful addition to the iPhone software.
