AT&T Helps Out it's Customers, Sorta

"We hope you guys didn't already go out and buy a Pre, because AT&T has made a change to its policy: It will now give iPhone 3G owners who purchased in the first 3 months (July, August or September 2009), the original iPhone price upgrades. Sort of. Log into your account to find out exacly how much of your money they want."

This tidbit was taken from the AT&T press release they have posted on their site. At first glance I thought it was that you could upgrade, from the 3G into a 3G S, if last year you upgraded or bought a 3G during the Summer of 2009. And from reading several other news sources, I wasn't the only one. Now that I have re-read it a few times, it appears that if you are eligible for your "normal" upgrade during July, August or September of 2009, you will be able to buy a 3G S on June 18th for the upgrade price so you won't have to wait those long weeks or months until your official upgrade date. If you have paid extra and you fall within their guidelines, they will also credit you back the amount you "overpaid" so to speak. So just because you were allowed to upgrade last year from 2G to 3G, doesn't mean you will be able to this year.

So AT&T is throwing you a bone, giving you a minimum of a two week upgrade improvement on your account. I'm sure it isn't what the masses were hoping for, but it is probably the best they are going to get. I may take advantage of this since I'm now eligible again for an upgrade in July 2009 (I posted previously on another thread that my date kept changing from 2009 to 2010 for an unknown reason). I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to stand waiting two weeks (at least the last time I checked) for my upgrade so thanks AT&T!
