"It's not quite an about-face for the Army, but the release of a blogging app does show the service is willing to embrace social media and smartphones as it reaches out to young, technologically-inclined recruits."

There are more details at the press release site, but it doesn't look like it's restricted to just military personnel. Any Army supporter can use the app, and they expect it to include photos and videos, provide information on the US Army as well as connections to the Army's sites such as the recruiting site GoArmy.com and the official US Army site. It's available now as a free download in iTunes [link].

"WordPress users on the go will be happy to hear that WordPress 2, a significant update to the WordPress app, is now available from the App Store."

This is a new app, so if you have the previous one you will have to download this one, rather than update. There are a couple good resource sites for iPhone users that also use WordPress. One is WordPress for iPhone Blog and the other is Making WordPress for iPhone Blog.

"Wordpress for iPhone has been updated to 1.2, bringing some new features to the portable blogging app. The popular online publishing system that allows people to start and maintain their own blog, with Wordpress for iPhone allowing users to update their blog while away from a computer."

This update gives the app landscape mode which is a welcome addition to any application, but especially one like this. It also brings in shortcuts for creating links, built-in photo resizing to speed up the loading of photos and moderation of comments for your posts.
