Need Some Space? Delete Some Backups

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 11:30 AM

http://www.tipb.com/2011/04/18/dail...ng-ios-backups/

"Sync and backup your iPhone, iPod touch, and/or iPad to a laptop or small PC drive, starting to run low on disk space, and wondering how you can reclaim some of it?"

I tend to forget about these files so they build up pretty quickly. If you aren't on top of it like you should be either, this handy how to will free up some space, potentially a lot of space, on your laptop. In fact, in the little time I've been using this MacBook Air as my primary computer, I've already built up a file that is almost 4GB in size. It doesn't take long!

Self Destructing Messages? Yea, There's an App for That...

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 08:00 AM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2010/03/...that-tigertext/

"Anyone familiar with Mission: Impossible has heard the famous lines, "this message will self destruct in 5 seconds." Now there's an app equivalent with TigerText."

While the app itself is free, there are costs involved, at least for sending since receiving messages is always free. After your first free 100 messages that you have 15 days to use, it costs $1.49 USD per month for 250 messages or $2.49 USD per month for unlimited. Someone like Tiger Woods (coincidence in the naming of this app per the developers..yea right) definitely could have used this and probably would have opted for the unlimited plan.

AppZapper 2.0.1

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 09:00 AM

"Everybody loves the drag and drop nature of OS X. Drag an app into your applications folder, and it's installed. You'd think it would be that easy to delete an app - just a matter of dragging it to the trash. But it's not."

Well now it got easier with the release of AppZapper 2.0.1, available now for $12.95 USD. Seems like a pretty handy program, just drag one or more apps onto AppZapper, it finds all the associated files and then you delete with one click. This does require OS X 10.6 or higher, but on their website you have the option of getting previous versions if you are still using older versions of OS X. There is also a write up about this release on the TUAW site
