"Insatiable consumers of Internet content, rejoice-developer Marco Arment has released "the biggest update ever" for Instapaper, his Web service and iOS app for saving content to read later, right in time for the iPad 2's release."

Social Integration seems to be the direction where software is heading, and this new Instapaper version now allows (controlled and managed) sharing of news stories and personal content. Facebook and Twitter are the biggies, and even Evernote notes can be shared. In addition to adding a social layer to the app, improvements include more speed (always a welcome addition), search capability, support for higher resolution images, and other tweaks and additions. The new version requires iOS 3.1 or later, costs $4.99 for a new purchase, and is a free upgrade for all existing users.

"Instapaper Pro has just been updated and now features a nice reading interface suited well for the big screen of the iPad. In case you haven't used Instapaper before, either on the iPhone/iPod touch or even web interface, it's a pretty useful app that lets you save web pages that you are browsing so that you can read it later, even when you are offline."
