Flip Steady for iPad, Does This Solve Your Case Problem?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 05:00 AM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2012/04/...steady-for-ipad

"Still haven't found the perfect iPad case for you? Consider the FlipSteady, now being considered at Kickstarter for the iPad 2 and new iPad."

I use a combo method on my iPad. For the front I use the smart cover from Apple and for the back I use hard shell cover from Scoshe. But I am always on the lookout for something better, and this might just be it. But I don't think I need to hurry over to the their Kickstarter page since they appear to be within $600.00 USD of their goal and they have 55 days left. Clever case indeed.

The Stand for iPhone

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 06:00 AM

http://www.macnews.com/2012/03/27/o...ct-iphone-stand

"Newly formed startup company Outlaaw has recently launched its first product on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter.com. "The Stand" is a sound-enhancing iPhone dock designed from a solid block of cylindrical aluminum."

This is a Kickstarter project and it is just over halfway funded. I'm hoping they get the money for this as it really is a cool little accessory. The only problem with things like this, for me, is that with an iPhone 5 coming out this year, I don't want to get stuck with a $50.00 USD piece of aluminum that is incompatible. What are your thoughts?

iPhone Case and Insurance, What a Deal!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 04:00 AM

http://gigaom.com/apple/an-iphone-c...(GigaOM:+Apple)

"Being the resident "extreme" iPhone case enthusiast (and also the klutz who drops his phone most often), I was intrigued by the new cellhelmet Kickstarter project."

This is a great idea, and it is made even better because the cases look good. I hate cases that don't have the opening for the Apple logo on the back, it just messes up the aesthetics for me. And since this one is also form fitted and has the extra cushioning on the edges and corners, it looks like it would really do the job. However, we won't know if we can even purchase one of these until March 11th when the Kickstarter project is either funded or cancelled. So if you are like me and think having a case that includes insurance for breaking your iPhone thrown in (you do have to pay what amounts to a $50.00 USD deductible if you do break your iPhone in the case), then perhaps you should head over to the Kickstarter page and put your money down.

Flote Your iPad

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...free-your-hands

"After too many nights experiencing tingling fingers and pains in my neck and shoulders, I decided that I wanted to create something new that would hold my tablet for me as I browsed, read, or watched a movie- particularly while I was on a couch, chair, or even better- my bed. It had to be cool looking so it didn't detract from the experience, and it had to be simple and hassle-free to adjust."

And what he came up with is called the Flote. A recent Kickstarter project, this one does project a certain coolness but I'm not sure how much use I would get out of it. I think it certainly would be a neat way to hold your iPad if you were using it as a photo frame or weather station, or something similar. Then again, now that I think about it, this would actually be perfect if I wanted to watch a movie in bed or in a recliner and didn't want to hold the iPad. What are your thoughts? You can find out more about this project by checking out the kickstarter site.

An Interesting iPad Concept Keyboard

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 01:00 AM

http://gigaom.com/apple/finally-an-...(GigaOM:+Apple)

"Apple's own wireless Bluetooth keyboard, while not specifically designed for the iPad, still tops my list for the best-looking design of any keyboards that work with the tablet."

This is a Kickstarter project, and as of today they only have about $6,000.00 USD out of the approximately $60,000.00 USD they need to start the project. They have put a deadline of October 24th 2012 for this funding so I guess we will see soon if it will become a reality. Personally, it looks pretty cool but I don't have any problems using the iPad keyboard so I don't even use an external keyboard with mine. I can see the advantage if I did a lot of typing but mine is minimal. What are your thoughts, think this project will be a "go" or not see the light of day?

"You're always strumming out guitar chords while prancing around your living room listening to Yanni right? Well, here's your chance for a more interactive experience for your air guitar greatness. Air Guitar Move is a connector for your iPhone/iPod Touch that combines a guitar pick with motion sensor technology to turn your wild flailing into sweet sweet music."

This would come in handy as you practice for your turn on the stage here. This is a Kickstarter project that has the funding so is going to become a reality so you can sign up here to be notified when it's available. Rock on!

Soundjaw for iPad, A Kickstarter Project

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 09:30 PM

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-audio-enhancer

"The SoundJaw is an accessory that works to redirect your iPad's sound, giving it a louder and richer tone. You won't believe the difference this can make. I'm sure you can hear the difference on the video but it is even greater when in person."

This is one of those products that make you say "why didn't I think of that?" Simple yet effective, this little device redirects the sound from the iPad 2 (and original iPad according to an update on the Kickstarter page) speakers so that you get a much better experience as the sound is richer and fuller, and I might add increases the volume or at least the appearance of increasing the volume. And as of this posting they are almost there with the $7,000.00 USD goal, needing only about $800.00 USD. Go to the Kickstarter page and get one for as little as $15.00 USD.

HiveDock From Kickstarter, Not Yet a Reality

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 03:37 PM

http://gizmodo.com/#!5798641/an-iph...ck-for-the-olds

"Hello, old people who can't see or hear your iPhone. This 100 percent analog sight-and-sound amplifying dock is for you! The Hive combines two classics of sensory augmentation-a horn and magnifying glass-into one as-seen-on-TV-worthy dock. And it's $45."

Since I recently got older, this might come in handy for me at some point down the road. But since it is a Kickstarter project, it has to reach it's goal of $150,000.00 USD before it can be made. Since they only have roughly $2,000.00 USD, I'd say it might be more like if than when it gets made.

A Mac Mini Kickstarter Project

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Desktops" @ 05:00 AM

https://www.kickstarter.com/project...-mount?ref=live

"In keeping with making things as efficient as possible, I don't have any paper in my office, I stand in front of my wall mounted screen, and I recently got rid of my desk entirely, instead choosing a simple rolling keyboard stand. This doesn't leave much room for a computer, even one as small as the 2010 Mac Mini. I wanted to wall mount it but there are only a couple mounts made for the second generation Mac Mini and none of them quite suited my needs."

So he did what any able bodied inventor type would do...he created his own mount for his Mac Mini. This is one of the projects over at Kickstarter, and so far they have raised $450.00 USD out of the $6,000.00 USD requested. As with all of these Kickstarter projects, there are several funding levels from $10.00 USD all the way up to $5,000.00 USD, with each level offering perks as you move up the chain.

Use Your iPhone on a Standard Tripod With Glif

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...mount-and-stand

"Glif is a simple iPhone 4 accessory with two primary functions: mounting your iPhone to a standard tripod, and acting as a kickstand to prop your iPhone up at an angle. From these two functions emerge numerous uses: hands-free FaceTiming, watching videos, making movies, using your iPhone as an alarm clock, and many others."

The video on the KickStarter site shows several options for this innovative adapter for your iPhone 4. To get one, all you have to do is pledge at least $20.00 USD and they will ship you one as soon as they are manufactured. From the looks of the pledge amount, it won't be long. You can also find out more at the Glif site.
