Need a Mac App Store Alternative?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 04:00 PM

http://www.maclife.com/article/feat...re_alternatives

"Since it was first announced during last October's Back to the Mac Event, consumers and developers alike have been alternately thrilled or worried over what Apple's online Mac App Store would mean for the future of OS X compatible software."

And today we now know what the Mac App Store is all about, but that doesn't mean you can't find other sources for your Mac software. MacUpdate and Bodega are a couple that I've used in the past, but there are several others listed here as well. What are your thoughts on these stores, have you given them a try? Or do you use one not mentioned here?

MacUpdate Promo Time Again!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.mupromo.com/

"The best deal on Mac software around! Celebrate the holidays with a collection of legendary apps and a few new classics at an unbeatable price!"

$49.99 USD gets you the bundle, and for the first 10,000 sold, it will also get you a copy of PowerTunes, Holiday DVD Templates and FlagIt!. I can usually find at least one or two programs in a bundle that make it worthwhile, or that I already own and this one is no different. But check it out for yourself at MacUpdate.

MacUpdate Spring Bundle Announced

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2009/05/28/macu...undle-revealed/

"The MacUpdate Promo Spring Bundle has been revealed, and it is, as the kids say, wicked (or sick, or whatever the kids say). This thing is packed with truly useful applications. If you were considering buying any one of these apps, the $49.99US pricetag makes the rest of them a high-value proposition."

I'm excited about this software bundle for a couple of reasons: TechTool Pro 5 and Notebook 3 by Circus Ponies. I've been thinking about picking up these two programs, and as luck would have it, they are part of this bundle. There are several other programs listed as well, and based on what I've seen of them, this really is a value at the $49.99 USD price. If you are curious about the other programs head on over to their site. Anyone else out there going to partake?

If you are one of the first 15,000 purchasers, they will also throw in Jets N' Guns Gold and CuteClips, upping the value of the package to a eery $666.66 USD. But don't let that cause you hesitation and delay your purchase, the promotion ends on June 12th.

MacUpdate Bundle Now Available

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.mupromo.com/winter.php

"MacUpdate and 10 developers have partnered to bring you some holiday cheer! For a limited time, enjoy this collection of fine applications at an unheard of price!"

There are always plenty of bundles to be had throughout the course of the year, and this one looks to be pretty good. I use RapidWeaver a lot and wouldn't be without Default Folder X. Little Snitch is a good app if you want to keep tabs on your TCP/IP traffic, and as our very own Joe Johaneman pointed out, MacGourmet is a pretty solid app also. For $49.99, you really can't go wrong even if you only use Rapidweaver and MacGourmet which alone cost more than the bundle total.
