Normally, "Quick Looks" are used to give you, the reader, a snapshot of a particular product. In this case, however, I wanted to give you a look at a new company called BulletTrain, that has come out with a couple of innovative products. One is for the Apple Keyboard and Magic Trackpad, called BulletTrain Express (pictured above), and the other is called the MagicStand for iPad. Both products are made from aluminum, have the same appearance as the Apple aluminum finish, and both retail for $99.00 USD.

OS X and Windows Get Software Updates

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 09:30 AM

http://www.macworld.com/article/154...ss_products_mac

"Apple on Wednesday released a couple of minor software updates to support its new 27-inch LED Cinema Display on both Mac OS X and Windows. The Windows update also includes support for the Magic Trackpad input device."

You can get the bundled Windows updates for both as an all in one package (32-bit version here, 64-bit version here), and the OS X update for the Cinema Display here, so you will be ready for your new 27-inch LED Cinema Display and your new Magic Trackpad. You are buying both aren't you?

ColorWare Now Painting Magic Trackpads

Posted by Joe Johaneman in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 06:30 AM

"There's not a gadget under the sun that the chroma-crazy lads over at ColorWare won't slather in Pantone hues if you pay them enough money, alleviating the necessity of the Mac-loving hockey fan from trying to turn his iMac into as gaudy a display of team pride as his torso and face with the help of spray paint alone."

I love the idea of ColorWare, though I can never justify the expense. Still, this looks really cool. I'd love to have a Magic Trackpad painted in bright colors. If I was in the market for a Magic Trackpad (I'm not), then I'd consider buying one from ColorWare. Anybody else drooling over these?

TheAppleBlog Reviews the Magic Trackpad

Posted by Joe Johaneman in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 07:00 AM

http://theappleblog.com/2010/08/09/...ackpad-no-pain/

"A week ago, the FedEx guy brought a Magic Trackpad from Apple. The Magic Trackpad takes all the good things about the trackpads on the MacBook Pros and incorporates them into a large, standalone peripheral designed to replace the mouse that many folks (like me) have used for so long. Does the Magic Trackpad succeed in knocking the mouse off the desk? Mostly."

James Kendrick over at TheAppleBlog gives a pretty good review of the Magic Trackpad. Personally, I'm still not convinced. I'm not fond of trackpads in general, though, so don't take my word for it. Read Kendrick's review. He also links out to an opposing review, also from TheAppleBlog. His suggestion, which I think is perfect: go to your nearest Apple store and try it for yourself before investing the money. Are you using a Magic Trackpad, and if so, what has your experience been like? Do you love it or hate it?
