Facebook Camera App, Their Own Instagram?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 12:00 AM

http://gizmodo.com/5913053/facebook...-much-instagram

"Facebook today dropped a new photo-sharing app for the iPhone and iPod Touch called Facebook Camera. And it looks pretty familiar!"

A very similar app to Instagram, but the difference here is it uploads directly to Facebook instead of to a separate account. Makes me wonder just how long Instagram will last, but it certainly shows why Facebook decided to buy Instagram...they needed to get rid of the competition! I had trouble finding it when I was searching on the iTunes Store for some reason. So if you are having the same problem, here is the link.

Pogoplug Mobile Offers Anywhere-You-Go Streaming

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 09:30 AM

http://www.ehomeupgrade.com/2011/09...ablet-a-breeze/

"Looking for a drop-dead simple solution for streaming media (photos, music, video) and accessing files from home on your smartphone or tablet? Or how about backing up your smartphone's recently taken photos and video? Well, Pogoplug's new $79 Pogoplug Mobile product offers to do just that."

There's definitely something very appealing about having access to all of your music, videos, and photos anywhere you go. I've solve this by by uploading every photo I've ever taken to Smugmug, every song I have to Amazon's Cloud Drive, and videos...well, I don't have a good solution for that yet. I can access them remotely via my Windows Home Server, but only when that works (the last time it didn't). This is rather appealing, especially given the $79 price point. What solution do you use for everywhere-you-go media access?

Save Your Instagram Photos to Dropbox With Instadrop

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 01:00 AM

http://gizmodo.com/5821784/instadro...to-your-dropbox

"One of the great things about Instagram? It autosaves your Instagram photos to the cloud. The bad thing? They're only saved to Instagram."

Not now, since you can go to Instadrop and link your Instagram account, then it will save directly to your Dropbox account. Nifty! I just did it and it took all of a minute.

PixyMe is a fun little application for the iPod Touch or iPhone, that lets you modify various photos within the program. If what you find isn't what you need, you can use own photo library to create greetings that you can either email, post on Facebook or send via US Mail. If you have ever wanted to add some comments to a photo and send a special greeting, this may be just what you need.

MobileMe Gallery App

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 09:00 AM

http://www.macworld.com/article/145...one_h_cbstories

"Although you can already access MobileMe galleries from an iPhone simply by visiting their URLs, Apple's new MobileMe Gallery seeks to make them faster and easier to access. The application is free and comes with a very respectable set of features."

Obviously this one requires a MobileMe subscription, but if you have one, this is a great app for viewing your photos on MobileMe, much better than using Safari. You can see your entire gallery as well as photos and movies posted by your friends. This also supports German, French and Japanese languages and requires your iPhone or iPod Touch to be running OS 3.1 or later.

Snapshot Series Brings Out The Best in iPhone Photos

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.macworld.com/article/144...aderiphone.html

"In the last installation of our Snapshot series, Best Camera creator and advertising photographer Chase Jarvis shared his passion for iPhone photography. His belief, that the best camera is the one you have with you, inspired a flood of iPhone Snapshot entries from Macworld readers."

Some amazing photos in this series, and with each shot they explain how they were able to do it on their iPhone. Some of the apps used were CameraBag, Photogene, TiltShift Generator, iFlashReady, CameraKit and Best Camera.
