Best Buy Also Offering Back to School Promo to Match Apple's

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "The Competition" @ 03:00 AM

http://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/19...tore-gift-card/

"Readers who are disappointed with Apple's new Back to School promotion may be interested to hear that electronics retailer Best Buy is offering to match Apple's promotion with their own."

You won't get this one automatically, it's an unadvertised special deal so you will have to ask for it. You might even get the educational discount on the merchandise if you ask for that too...as they say nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Back to School Promo Begins at Apple

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 05:36 AM

http://www.appleinsider.com/article..._gift_card.html

"As expected, Apple on Thursday began its annual back-to-school sale, offering students a $100 Mac App Store gift card along with the purchase of a qualifying Mac."

No free iPod Touch this year, but you do get $100.00 USD gift card to spend at the Mac App Store. Oh and that educational discount, which I've found to be around $100.00 USD also, more or less, depending on the hardware you purchase. You have until September 20, 2011 to take advantage of the deal, and to qualify you just have to be a college student or accepted to college, a parent of a student or faculty or staff at any grade level.

MacUpdate Bundle Now Available

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.mupromo.com/winter.php

"MacUpdate and 10 developers have partnered to bring you some holiday cheer! For a limited time, enjoy this collection of fine applications at an unheard of price!"

There are always plenty of bundles to be had throughout the course of the year, and this one looks to be pretty good. I use RapidWeaver a lot and wouldn't be without Default Folder X. Little Snitch is a good app if you want to keep tabs on your TCP/IP traffic, and as our very own Joe Johaneman pointed out, MacGourmet is a pretty solid app also. For $49.99, you really can't go wrong even if you only use Rapidweaver and MacGourmet which alone cost more than the bundle total.
