Here is How IndyCar Driver Kanaan Uses His iPad

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 10:00 AM

"Well, looks like we found at least ONE customer for Scosche's iKit iPad car mount! In this clip, professional racecar driver (and apparently professional tech geek) Tony Kanaan gives a brief overview of how his team has already incorporated the iPad into their workflow to help streamline the pit stop experience."

Yet another use for the iPad. I expect to see much more of this integration with other fields as time goes on. Wonder if he has to take his racing gloves off when he is using it? Any thoughts as to what other industries will take advantage of the iPad?

Asphalt Version 5. Go Speed Racer!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 08:00 AM

"Gameloft just released the fifth edition of its highly successful iPhone car racing game Asphalt. This 5th edition comes with 30 cars to choose from, 12 highly detailed racetracks and 8 different game modes."

This has been a pretty popular racing game for the iPhone platform, and with this version they add more of everything, including the price. Version 5 goes for $6.99 USD in the iTunes store, and if you aren't sure you will like it, you can always check out the video.

Play a Game, Win a VW

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 07:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2009/10/22/volk...o-promote-2010/

"Volkswagen knows something other car manufacturers don't: they needn't spend millions of dollars on commercials, billboards, and product placement to launch a new car. They just need to make an iPhone application, like Volkswagen has for their latest model, the 2010 GTI, and the money will follow."

The money won't flow from the app they released for the iPhone, that one is free! This is lite version of Freemint's Real Racing so it has fewer tracks and you can only race, obviously, a VW GTI. And by going to the winners circle in the app you can enter to win one of six snazzy Special Edition GTIs, like the one pictured above. You can also enter via the VW website. The weekly contest ends in, well, six weeks, after the last of the cars has been given away.
