MacBook SuperDrive Case from WaterField Designs

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Laptops" @ 11:00 AM

http://prmac.com/release-id-21000.htm

"WaterField Designs today is pleased to announce a new protective case custom fitted for Apple's MacBook Air SuperDrive. Mobile MacBook Air users may now carry a SuperDrive in the light and protective SuperDrive Sleeve that safeguards the device with ballistic nylon and shock-absorbing neoprene padding."

There are several images on the product page at WaterField Designs, and from them you can tell it's another well made product. My SuperDrive sits on a shelf at home when I am not using it so this is something that will work perfect to protect it. It is form fitted and also has a zipper pocket you can stuff the end of the chord into, as well as use it to store small items. The case is available for $25.00 USD.

Apple Software Update Smorgasbord!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2009/08/31/appl...ee-new-updates/

"After the big upgrade to Snow Leopard last weekend, Apple has posted three new updates, fixing various OS and firmware issues."

You can get info on these and other updates at the Apple update page, but I'll run through the short list for you. First off, they updated the SuperDrives with Firmware Update 3.0, which is supposed to eliminate some noise issues in iMacs and Mac Minis introduced after March 2009. Next comes the Mac Mini EFI Firmware Update 1.2, which fixes some of those dreaded compatibility issues and again, only for those introduced after March 2009. The last update, available in combo or standalone, is for Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 for general operating system fixes. You can get the updates via the software update feature on your Mac or via the links above.
