Keep Warm and In Touch With These Gloves

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 04:00 AM

http://gigaom.com/apple/mujjo-touch...(GigaOM:+Apple)

"Winter is finally in full effect here in Toronto, with a couple very cold days in the past week that gave me the perfect opportunity to test out a pair of Mujjo touchscreen gloves."

These would come in handy in my neck of the woods this time of year. It is kind of a pain if walking or driving and need to check something and have to remove gloves. From the sounds of the review, these gloves from Mujjo work quite well since they use conductive threads instead of the more common fingertip pads. They aren't cheap at $32.00 USD a pair though are they? You can find out more at the Mujjo site.

iPhone is the Standard for Touchscreens

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 10:00 AM

"The iPhone now represents almost exactly one third of all touchscreen phones in the US, new comScore info says. Of all touch phones in the country, 32.9 percent are iPhones while all others trail significantly behind."

You can see from the list above from Comscore that the closest competitor has about 9% of the market. To state the obvious, the iPhone is dominating. There isn't much competition for the iPhone but I hear there may be soon. What are your thoughts on the future of touchscreen dominance?

Apple Awarded Patent for Touch Interface

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...the_iphone.html

"Apple last week was awarded a monstrous 358-page patent covering the touch screen, graphical user interface, and methods that combine to define the iPhone user experience."

This patent was awarded last Tuesday and names several executives, including Steve Jobs, in the filing that covers pretty much everything about the iphone and how it operates. This is interesting in light of the comments Tim Cook made about defending the product, and appears to give them a foothold to backup the challenge. Couple interesting notes about the patent, it mentions a "blogging application" and a "digital video camera application."
