AirPlay for All iOS Devices, Sort Of...

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 05:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2010/11/12/ipho...irplay-support/

"Support for Apple's new AirPlay is supposedly excluded from the iPhone 3G, reports 9to5Mac. Designed to let users stream their iTunes library anywhere in their house via WiFi or an Ethernet connection, AirPlay technology will be found in all manner of audio/video equipment in the coming months, including the AirPort Express and Apple TV."

AirPlay support is part of the recent iTunes 10.1 update, but if you have a 3G you are out of luck apparently. As quickly as technology is changing, not too surprised they are bypassing the 3G, but it certainly won't make the owners happy. Sounds like another lawsuit.

Apple Releases iTunes 10.1

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 01:57 PM

"iTunes 10.1 is now available for download on both Mac and PC. In preparation for the impending release of iOS 4.2, Apple has released the newest version of iTunes which will be necessary to install the new firmware."

It appears iOS 4.2 is getting closer and closer doesn't it?

So Steve Jobs Was Right on Flash?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "The Competition" @ 08:30 AM

http://blog.laptopmag.com/mobile-fl...oves-jobs-right

"I'm the last person on earth who wanted to believe Steve Jobs when he told Walt Mossberg at D8 that 'Flash has had its day.' I took it as nothing more than showmanship when Jobs shared his thoughts on Flash and wrote that 'Flash is closed and proprietary, has major technical drawbacks, and doesn't support touch based devices.'"

But it turns out that he has to agree with Jobs on Flash, after spending some time using, or rather trying to use, mobile Flash Player 10.1 on the Android 2.2. The author tried several sites, and came to the conclusion that it isn't ready, and really what is the point of making websites compatible? If they have to recode them for Flash, why not just do it so it is compatible with HTLM5?
