10.6.2 Update But Not For Hackintosh

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 11:00 AM

http://www.macrumors.com/2009/11/09...ac-os-x-10-6-2/

"Apple today released Mac OS X 10.6.2, the second maintenance update for Snow Leopard, via Software Update and the company's software downloads page. The update brings several bug fixes, reportedly including one for a serious issue involving Guest accounts that has caused some users to lose all data from their primary user accounts."

This should fix the guest account bug, which caused your home folder disappeared if you had the guest account enabled. But this update isn't without problems, mainly for those with the Atom processor. So if you have made yourself a Hackintosh, you will want to wait on this update. In a related story posted by MacRumours: "If you have an official Apple Mac then go right ahead and update to Mac OS X 10.6.2, but if you have a Hackintosh Mac Netbook... well you will want to hold off. It has been confirmed that the final release of 10.6.2 kills Intel Atom support officially. Hackintosh Guru StellaRolla reports:'The netbook forums are now blowing up with problems of 10.6.2 instant rebooting their Atom based netbooks.'"

Apple Seeds 10.6.2

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 10:00 AM

"Apple has seeded developers with a new build of Mac OS X 10.6.2, the next major update for Snow Leopard, in which it has addressed the nasty Guest account data-destroying bug, reports of which have been in a flurry in recent weeks."

According to the article this one is fast-tracked so hopefully soon will be released as it also fixes several other bugs besides the one we reported on last week. This bug caused the home directory to disappear if you had a guest account set up in Leopard and upgraded to Snow Leopard. This new build also fixes issues with the 4 finger motion, image display problems with Safari Top Sites and reliability issues with a myriad of other programs as well as other bug fixes.
