Shazam Updated, Now With Restrictions

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 08:00 AM

"Shazam Entertainment quietly updated to its popular free Shazam app last night to add support for looking up tour information for tagged artists."

If you downloaded a previous version and upgrade to this one, you get a bonus with the concert info. However, according to the documentation on iTunes, if you are a first time user and download this you will only get to tag 5 songs per month. People upgrading won't have the same limitation. I think I would have preferred they add enhancements to the paid version to make it more enticing than taking away functionality from the free version.

Live Nation on iTunes

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 12:00 PM

"Concert promoter Live Nation today announced that it has partnered with Apple to launch a new initiative focused on audio and video recording of live concert events for distribution via Apple's iTunes Store. Apple has also launched a dedicated section of the iTunes Store to feature the content."

Nice addition to the iTunes store, and you can see the listings here from Live Nation. Here is a blurb from their press release: "Live Nation, the world's largest live music company, has joined with the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com), the world's #1 music retailer, to launch a new live music program, which debuted today. Live Nation Studios will now offer exclusive recorded and filmed concerts from its network of "wired" venues for purchase and download only on iTunes. Exclusive live recordings from OK Go, Jesse McCartney, Saving Abel, A Fine Frenzy, Duffy, Plain White T's and Ziggy Marley, to name a few, have been released this week, with many more to follow."
