In Memory of Steve Jobs on the Cupertino Campus

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 03:00 AM

"Apple is continuing to enculturate the legacy of Steve Jobs, this time by placing memorable quotes and iconic images of their late co-founder around their Cupertino campus."

Pretty cool idea and what a great way to celebrate his life and work at Apple's campus.

Why Yes, Steve Can Sell

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 11:00 PM

"For ultimate proof of Steve Jobs' salesmanship, look not to the Apple CEO's keynotes, but to this one-minute presentation of a new Apple headquarters to the Cupertino City Council. It will make you consider buying an actual office park."

This is the long version, but if you are not up to watching all 20 or so minutes, you can go to the Gawker site and watch a scaled down one, about a minute or two long. I would suggest watching the longer version above however, as Steve Jobs works the council and discusses why their new building should be improved. I'd vote yes, and not just because the new building is amazing.

Apple Buys HP Campus

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 06:00 AM

"Apple has become the largest landowner in Cupertino, Calif., the city which headquarters the computer and media giant. Apple recently purchased for a reported $300 million a 98-acre campus which formerly housed Hewlett-Packard. The site adjoins Apple's 50-acre site it purchased in 2006."

Back to their roots according to Woz in this interview, since most if not all of the early Apple work was done on this campus in the calculator division.

Looking for a Job at Apple?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 01:00 PM

http://www.9to5mac.com/apple_iphone...e+Intelligence)

"Apple appears to be making plans to add a dash of Cupertino magic to mapping and is searching for an iPhone Software Engineer to join the iPhone and iPod touch Maps team, MacRumors informs."

From the job listing, "The iPhone and iPod touch Maps team is looking for a proactive and hardworking software engineer to join our team." And further, "As an engineer on the Maps team, your responsibilities will range from implementing low-level client/server code to implementing high-level user interfaces. You'll be responsible for implementing new and innovative features, fixing problems and enhancing the performance of Maps. You will work closely with the other engineers on the Maps team, other iPhone and iPod touch teams as well our partners in other companies." The ad also states they want to take maps to the "next level" so conjecture is that they may be going outside Google in the future, especially since Apple bought a stake in Place Base and the founder is now part of the Geo Team at Apple.
