Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 05:00 AM

http://gizmodo.com/#!5789058/5-elga...ms-over-airplay

"The latest version of Elgato's much-loved EyeTV app, 1.2.3, brings along sought-after AirPlay support for streaming to and from Macs that have an Elgato tuner stuck in a slot."

A welcome addition I'm sure, to those that use this nifty program. Now you can stream all the content from your Mac to Apple TV or to your iPhone or iPad with this universal app. The Elgato EyeTV app is $4.99 USD in the iTunes Store [affiliate link].

Elgato Announces the EyeTV Netstream Sat System

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 04:00 AM

http://www.electronista.com/article....for.ipad.more/

"Elgato today brought out its first satellite TV option that doesn't require a computer to view. The EyeTV Netstream Sat pipes any freely viewable European satellite TV through to a local network and can play it back to an iPad or iPhone through the EyeTV app (free, App Store) as well as Macs and Windows PCs. It works over both Ethernet and 802.11n Wi-Fi and can rely on USB to feed DVB-S2 terrestrial video."

These will start shipping on November 22nd this year, and will cost you approximately 200 euros or $272.00 USD after tax. This is for Europe only, and no word yet on anything similar coming to the US.

Elgato Releases EyeTV Update, With iPad Support

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "The Competition" @ 08:00 AM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2010/05/...d-ipad-support/

"The big news coming out of Elgato today is that the company has released a brand new Mac-compatible HD DVR system called EyeTV HD. But even bigger news, at least for us iPad owners, is that the hardware's companion software, simply titled EyeTV, has been updated to fully support HD television playback and live streaming television on the iPad."

V3.4 adds support for playback on the iPad, and also support for the update that is soon to come out for the EyeTV app in iTunes [affiliate link]. This is a universal app so if you already have the iPhone version you are covered for the iPad. Couple this with the EyeTV HD pictured above and you have quite the combination.

Roxio Easy VHS to DVD

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.appletell.com/apple/comm...age-from-roxio/

"Roxio, a division of Sonic Solutions, has announced the immediate availability of Roxio Easy VHS to DVD for Mac, a combination of software and hardware that provides consumers with a quick and trouble-free way to convert and transfer personal video and entertainment stored on VHS tape to DVD. Roxio Easy VHS to DVD for Mac is available in retail stores and directly from Roxio for a suggested retail price of $79.99."

Almost a month ago we posted about Elgato's video converter and now Roxio has come out with their version. Both do basically the same thing, but they focus their marketing on different aspects of conversion. Roxio is selling this as a way to transfer your analog video to a DVD in a painless solution, something that anyone will be able to do with no experience. It seems they are focusing on the right to DVD mode versus the Elgato focus on uploading or transferring to another device. Roxio is selling this for $79.95 USD versus the Elgato device, which sells for $99.95 USD.
