Siri Security Leak and a Solution

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 04:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2011/10/20/ipho...revent-unautho/

"Welcome to iPhone 101, the series that explains the basics of iPhone operation. This time, it's making sure Siri doesn't let anyone use your locked iPhone."

Not only do you have to worry about that pesky magnetic cover on your iPad 2, you now have to worry about Siri giving access to all of your secrets. Well, the secrets Siri understands I guess. You can disable this in the Settings > General > Passcode settings and turn off the Siri option. Annoying but if you tend to lose track of your iPhone, you might want to consider this!

Lock Down Your iPad

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 03:00 AM

http://www.ipodnn.com/articles/10/1...ble.is.applied/

"MacLocks has announced the new iPad Lock security case and cable for the iPad. While most notebooks and many portable hard drives provide security slots for attaching cable locks, securing the item in public or when unattended for stretches of time, iPads lack any form of security slot. MacLocks has developed a secure case with a built-in security slot -- users can then attach a cable to the case."

This wouldn't be a bad solution for an office or dorm room. The company, called Maclocks, also makes the same type of locks for laptops and iMacs. You can buy the clear case alone for $39.95, or get the package deal with the lock for $64.95.

Details about the rebate though, are here, and you can pick the starter kits up at a number of stores, brick and mortar as well as at Amazon.com, where they offer the Schlage LiNK Wireless Keypad Deadbolt Starter Kit System, Satin Nickel as one of the applicable products.
