The iPad Provides Many Options for Magazines

"With everything tending more and more towards digital consumption, the print world is in trouble."

I have to agree, at least for me personally. I read everything on my iPad now, since what I found hard to find in the early days of the iPad are now readily available on a variety of iPad apps such as Kindle, Newsstand and Zinio. How about you, have you given up on print?

The Problem With Some Magazines on the iPad

"Over the past several days, complaints about how bad magazines look on the iPad have been rolling in. The reason, according to Mashable, is that the older magazine apps simply weren't built to handle the new iPad's high resolution 'retina display,' so everything looks blurry."

In his reply to this article from FishbowlNW, I tend to agree with Michael Mulvey.

Magazines on the iPad

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 10:00 AM

"When Apple does eventually get around to shipping the iPad, which may not be as soon as many of us had hoped, we'll at least have some good quality, familiar content to enjoy on the platform according to an internal announcement by Condé Nast as reported by the New York Times."

They plan to have Wired, GQ, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and Glamour ready to go after the release of the iPad, by staggering the launch of each title over the course of the next six months, ending sometime this summer. These will all be sold through iTunes, and I don't think they will be the only company doing this. I'm hoping Zinio has something available since they already have an iPhone app, as well as many titles to choose from. But I'm really hoping some kind of Kindle app will happen so I can use it for all those books I own.
