Don't Get Caught by the Boonana Trojan Mac Virus

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 06:00 AM

http://www.maclife.com/article/news...na_trojan_virus

"We told you about the Boonana Trojan Mac virus that was discovered by SecureMac just yesterday. SecureMac has now completed its initial analysis of the virus and has new information about it, as well as a removal tool if you believe your Mac is infected."

This virus usually gets into your system via one of those "Is this you in this video?" messages, usually from social networking sites such as Facebook. You click on it and it loads a java applet and the rest is history. Obviously don't click on links like that but if you do, you can download the removal tool here or keep updated on this and other security threats at the bulletin page for SecureMac. The removal tool can also be found on the bulletin page.

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 05:25 AM

http://www.loopinsight.com/2010/09/...free-today-only

"Macintosh security experts, SecureMac, is offering its flagship product MacScan as a free download for one day only."

The folks at SecureMac are offering their security software MacScan today only for the very affordable cost of nothing. All you have to do, after downloading the free trial version found here, is click on the purchase button and enter the coupon code PIRATE (fitting since they are celebrating the day after Talk Like a Pirate Day) during checkout. You do have to complete the checkout process just like you were buying it, however using the coupon code will prevent you from being charged. The software is designed to detect, isolate and remove malware, trojan horses and keystroke loggers. It also gives you some cleaning options and cookie control features.
