"Apple on Tuesday released the third beta version of iPhone OS 4, only to temporarily rescind it due to an apparent problem with the installation process for the accompanying software development kit."
Several things discovered in the latest beta version that was pulled due to problems with the installation process, one of which is screen orientation lock. It also includes some iPod controls. This looks a little "busy" to me, but this is beta and it may or may not change with the final version. Also discovered was the possibility for 720p HD recording. Ars Technica also has an article listing some of the potential additions. I just hope coupled with new hardware and this new software that they do improve the camera capabilities.
