Arq Online Backup for Mac Users

"There's yet another contender if you're looking for an online backup solution. Haystack Software has released Arq, a backup application that uses Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3). Arq offers encrypted backups, flexible scheduling, and the ability to select and exclude files as you see fit."![]()
Using Amazon's Simple Storage Service (or S3), Arq from Haystack Software offers a convenient way to ensure that your data is backed-up - and more importantly, can be recovered. While Time Machine offers a good, reliable local backup option, Arq is designed to also be a complementary 'disaster recovery' restore solution. Data is backed-up and restored via simple drag-and-drop operations. Multiple versions are stored to allow 'point-in-time' restores, and backups can be encrypted. An Amazon S3 account is required (with somewhat complicated tiered pricing) for storage, and Arq costs $29 for a single-copy, or $49 for a five-user family pack.
