iGrill Reviewed

"If you need any proof that the iOS devices have left the world of computer geekery and entered into a platform for "consumer electronics," you need look no further than the iGrill, a bluetooth-enabled cooking thermometer that has an iPhone app."

We talked about this previously, when it was first introduced but never had a review until now with AppleTell. The biggest drawback appears to be the price, since you can get several cheaper options that, when you get right down to it, do the same job, although not as high tech as the iGrill. So I guess if you want to pay for a bit of coolness factor while you grill your steaks, this is right up your alley.

Yes, iGrill is Here

"Fresh-smoked New Year's Ham! Yum! I smoke a lot, have about every thermometer available, but for tonight's dinner, I'm trying something different: iGrill, the iOS-enabled meat thermometer. So far it's tons better than sitting in my yard staring at the smoker."

Never saw this one coming, but I really like the idea. The hard part about grilling or smoking is knowing exactly when the meat is done. This seems to help you out without you moving outside to the grill to check. Some problems initially and there have been some recalls of units sold in Apple Stores, but once the author got the kinks worked out it appears this product actually works pretty well for him. The app is universal and free [link], but you need to have some hardware from the iGrill website that will run you $99.99 USD ($119.99 USD if you want extra probe to take full advantage of the program).
