Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 02:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2011/06/21/appl...l-features-app/

"The iTunes Festival London is a month-long series of concerts featuring more than sixty artists performing in London's Roundhouse. The fun starts on July 1st and Apple's got you covered with an iOS app, steaming shows and exclusive music in iTunes."

This is one festival that sounds like a great time, and you can find out more about it at the Roundhouse site, or just go to iTunes. If you think you might want to go, you need to get the iTunes Festival app so you can win some tickets, which are free and distributed via lottery.

And it's located in the Covent Garden district of London, England. Pretty amazing store by anyone's standard.

London's Covent Garden Apple Store Quite Impressive

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 07:00 AM

http://news.worldofapple.com/archiv...World+of+Apple)

"Every single square-inch of Apple's future Covent Garden (London) store has been replaced, repaired, restored or cleaned to prepare it for the millions of visitors who will step inside later this year and say, 'Wow!'"

As impressive as the photo is above, Apple will be changing it further, to include an Apple themed skylight among some other cosmetic changes. While they retail space will be the ground floor and the 2nd floor, to include training rooms and expanded displays, they also have the basement and the upper 4 floors to use as they see fit. It's located in Central London and will be open later this year.

Apple Retail Expansion

"At Apple's annual shareholders meeting at its campus in Cupertino, Calif., Thursday, the company revealed it intends to open 25 stores in the nation of China."

This bit of info was from the Apple meeting last Thursday, but China isn't the only place Apple is going to build new stores. They plan on a total of 50 stores this year, including Shanghai, Spokane WA, Boise ID and London according to Tim Cook, Apple COO.

O2 Fail, China Win

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...s_top_300k.html

"U.S.-based AT&T isn't the only wireless carrier to see its network come under heavy strain due to the popularity of the iPhone. Meanwhile, Apple's official provider for the handset in China this week reportedly reached the 300,000 unit sales mark."

O2 finally eased the burden, which started this past summer, after investing $48 million USD in their network and adding 200 mobile stations in and around London, which is where the network crashed. But in China it is all good for the iPhone as they have sold over 300,000 units since it was introduced a couple months ago. No word on how the network is handling the increase in iPhones, but since they have most of the internet censored I doubt they have much of a burden on their network.
