Snow Reports From Your iPhone

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 09:05 AM

http://osxdaily.com/2010/11/21/get-...ly+(OS+X+Daily)

"Want to check mountain conditions right from your iPhone? The appropriately titled Snow and Ski Report app by REI offers an easy way to check on snow conditions and ski resorts from anywhere, and it's free."

REI's app isn't the only app in the iTunes App Store that is free and will provide you with information for your favorite resort. North Face has one, and there is also the Ski and Snow Report app also gives you the option to look at the resort cameras if they are available. An app called iTrailMap will download the ski resort run maps to your iPhone so you don't have to have cellular or Wi-Fi service to use it. Handy.

Follow Along at 5pm Eastern for Apple Q3 Report

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 11:00 AM

"Apple will be hosting its third quarter earnings conference call at 5PM eastern time today, and The Mac Observer will be covering the event as it happens. Along with our live coverage at the TMO Web site, we'll offer real time updates through Twitter at MacObserverLive, too."

The live coverage is located here, and if you have Twitter account, you can go here and follow along. The conference call starts in just a 60 minutes at 3pm at 5pm Eastern. This should be interesting as this is the first reporting quarter with iPads included.

Apple Number One in Tech Support

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 09:00 AM

http://www.macworld.com/article/147...l?lsrc=rss_main

"I have the greatest respect for the men and women behind Apple's tech support. Despite having one of the toughest jobs in the industry, they've always been extremely efficient and courteous in solving my own problems."

And the subscribers to Consumer Reports apparently agree with your sentiments, ranking Apple number one in their survey that rated problems solved, phone waits, phone staff and online support. Approximately 3,700 subscribers surveyed in laptop and also desktop support ranked Apple tops in each. The laptop score was 86 out of 100, and for desktop they scored 87 out of 100. These are up from last years numbers of 84 and 81 respectively.

Mark the Spot for AT&T Problem Areas With This App

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.macdailynews.com/index.p...pot_iphone_app/

"AT&T's 'Mark the Spot' app for Apple iPhone is designed to provide customers a means to give feedback on network user experiences to AT&T."

Well I'm all for improving the service based on the many reports of problems and dissatisfaction, so hopefully this helps in that regard. It sure makes it easy to report problems, much better than waiting on hold to voice your complaints, as long as they actually do something with the data.
