ESPN Reporter Goes Fully Digital With the iPad

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 03:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2012/05/28/how-...r-with-an-ipad/

"ESPN Pit Reporter Dave Burns covers NASCAR's premiere Sprint Cup Series for the network. He's been reporting on racing for many years, and recently abandoned his personal paper-based note system for carefully selected iPad apps."

I always read with interest any story that shows how someone has replaced their note taking methods or laptop usage with the iPad, since that is exactly what I'm trying to do on a daily basis. Interesting story of how the ESPN reporter came up with his own note taking sheets years ago and modified them into use on a iPad, basically the only thing he uses these days. For my note taking though, I prefer Notability. What are your favorite apps for note taking on the iPad?

ESPN Updates ScoreCenter

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 05:00 AM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2011/03/...draft-coverage/

"Updated only moments ago, ESPN ScoreCenter now allows you to stay on top of the latest news regarding your favorite sports with new alert settings while also providing you with the tools needed to become the ultimate NFL Draft junky."

This is a free app, and actually a pretty good one even before the update. Now you can get breaking news alerts as well as NFL Draft coverage. You can get pretty much all the news you want about the upcoming draft by going into the alerts tab and configuring your alerts. There are also settings for other sports, after all it is ESPN.

Get a Deal on Final Fantasy I and II, and ESPN ScoreCenter For Free

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 12:26 PM

http://www.tuaw.com/2010/09/29/fina...l-racing-on-sa/

"Square Enix has dropped the price on retro titles Final Fantasy I and II. The games were originally released at US$8.99, but to celebrate more widespread localization, the apps have dropped down to $3.99. Great games, nice price."

The deal is, on this normally $8.99 USD app, the price has been dropped to $3.99 USD for both Final Fantasy I [affiliate link] and Final Fantasy II [affiliate link]. On top of that you can also get the ESPN ScoreCenter app for free now. The ESPN app was $4.99 USD, too bad I didn't wait a month or two and I could have had quite a deal. Oh, and if you are a fan of racing games, Firemint has their Real Racing on sale as well for the price of $2.99 USD [affiliate link].

ESPN Passport App to Share Your Sporting Life

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 06:00 AM

http://thenextweb.com/apps/2010/08/...t=Google+Reader

"ESPN Passport (free), a new app from the "Worldwide Leader in Sports," allows you to check-in at sporting events, keep track of the sporting events you attend, and share your experiences at the game with anyone on the planet."

It's a pretty slick way to keep track of the games you go to, as well as give updates to all your friends via ESPN Passport, Facebook or Twitter. You can also get game information from within the app and it's free. The only downside is you have to put up with some ads.
