"I had to migrate my personal blog about my 2-year old daughter from MobileMe servers to a WordPress account."

Not an easy or simple task, so he wrote a script to take care of it. If you have to migrate your blog or web page from MobileMe before they close down the servers on June 30th, 2012 then check out this article.

Replace Your iWeb and MobileMe Hosting

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 01:00 PM

http://www.tuaw.com/2011/06/13/ten-...bileme-hosting/

"Yesterday, we reported on a rumor that Apple's website creation software, iWeb, is about a year away from obsolescence, along with MobileMe's hosting of iWeb sites. An iWeb user allegedly sent Apple CEO Steve Jobs an email asking if he should start looking for another website builder and a new host, and Jobs provided one of his patented terse replies: 'Yep.'"

Yes, all is not lost with the demise of iWeb and MobileMe since you have several options, ten or so at least according to this article.

How About Some Updates?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 04:00 AM

http://www.9to5mac.com/24963/safari...e+Intelligence)

"A 40MB Safari 5.0.2 Software Update just hit. From Apple:This update contains improvements to compatibility and security, including fixing an issue that could prevent users from submitting web forms, fixes an issue that could cause web content to display incorrectly when viewing a Google Image result with Flash 10.1 installed and establishes an encrypted, authenticated connection to the Safari Extensions Gallery."

You can find out more about it at the Apple support site, but it wasn't the only update. iWeb 3.0.2 was released, as well as updates to the apps Find my iPhone and iDisk.

Bored With Your iWeb Templates?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 07:00 AM

http://www.macworld.com/article/143...l?lsrc=rss_main

"There are plenty of themes built into iWeb '09 (28 to be exact), but eventually you may want more choices for your various Web sites. Themes are stylized page templates with coordinated designs that let non-designers create professional-looking Web sites in a jiffy. Trouble is, while iWeb's tools let you tweak a theme's appearance, the process can be time-consuming and labor intensive, and many themes are tricky to edit."

And if you do want more themes, you have several options as outlined in this article. Some have a price but there are also some free choices if you are tired of the 28 themes that come with iWeb. iWebTemplate's page even has some iPhone/iPod Touch specific choices if you are interested in making a mobile site.

.Mac Homepage Ends on July 7th

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 08:00 AM

http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2...away-july-7.ars

"The online simple webpage creation tool is going offline as the transition from .Mac to MobileMe is nearly complete. As of July 7, those who use .Mac HomePage will have to move on to something else."

MobileMe users got an email reminder not long ago about this, reminding us that we would no longer have access to it to change or create pages within the homepage system (unless you are using other HTML editors). However, if you have an existing page, it will remain available for viewing at your homepage.mac.com URL as long as you keep your MobileMe subscription active. The best option per Apple (no shocker here) is to use iWeb and move your pages there. Anyone using iWeb? If so how do you like it?

iLife '09 First Impressions

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 08:00 AM

It would not be possible to do a full review of iLife '09 after having had it for as short a period of time as I have, but I still wanted to give you the skinny on what I've noticed. As you all know, I was very excited to see a new version of iLife at MacWorld, and I think that Apple has done nothing to shake my confidence in iLife in general. It's still a solid package, a great value, and a must-own for any Mac user. Read more...
