A Speaker Dock for Your iPad From Scoshe

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 03:00 AM

http://www.maclife.com/article/revi...ker_dock_review

"Speaker docks are a tricky proposition. Build them big enough to boom, and they're hard to fit on your desk or kitchen counter. Build them small, and they usually lack the bass that helps us feel our favorite jams. Scoshe's BassDOCK manages to pack a punch, securely perching your iPad above a compact speaker that fits almost anywhere."

Simple design that works with all versions of iPad, and at $149.99 USD it won't break the bank. And, from the sounds of this review, it does the intended job very well.

Boost Speaker is Magic!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 07:30 PM

"Zagg's new Boost speaker, sold under the iFrogz brand, appears to amplify music using nothing but magic."

It certainly seems like magic, since all you have to do is lay your iPhone down on top of it and the sound "magically" comes through the device speakers, thus amplifying your music! It appears there is a tiny mic according to one article I read, that picks up the sound from your iPhone speakers. However they do it, it seems to work pretty well. You can order yours, for roughly $40 USD, right here.

iHome's iW1 AirPlay Speaker

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 01:00 AM

"Apple's AirPlay technology allows you to beam music and video wirelessly to devices like the Apple TV, from Macs and iOS devices."

And the latest entry into the field is this speaker unit from iHome. From the sounds of the review, it works pretty well. The coolest feature, in my opinion, is that it has a built in battery that lasts up to 10 hours once you take the unit from the charging base. And to recharge simply place the unit back on top of the base. Simple. It's available now for $299.99 via our affiliate link with Amazon.com.

Altec Lansing InMotion Air Wireless Bluetooth Speaker System Reviewed

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 01:00 PM

http://www.trustedreviews.com/mp3/r...eaker-System/p1

"Every year the gadget world is swamped by new buzz words, technological breakthroughs or product types that we simply must buy into. For music fans the must-have gadget is a dock and the buzz word it must now have is 'AirPlay' - Apple's wireless streaming connectivity capable of supporting lossless audio. So can we take a wireless speaker with none of this functionality seriously? Actually yes..."

Bluetooth-based speakers tend to be more on the "suck" side of the spectrum than the "awesome" side, but it seems Altec Lansing has pulled a rabbit out of their hat here and delivered a system that actually allows Bluetooth-transmitted audio to sound good. Go figure! If you've got a Bluetooth device and want to listen to music without having to connect it to a speaker dock, this looks like a good solution.

WALDok, Nifty Charging Device With a Speaker

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 04:09 PM

http://www.cultofmac.com/the-waldok...e-for-preorder/

"Remember the WALDok? It sounded like the unholy cybernetic offspring of WALL-E and Iron Man's creepy hypercephalic floating robot head nemesis, MODOK, but the WALDok was actually a Kickstarter project for a gorgeously compact speaker dock for the iPod nano capable of outputting some truly impressive sound while simultaneously juicing you up."

Initial versions were iPod Nano only but now they work with all iPod models and iPhones from 3G on. From the KickStarter Project website, the description tells the story:

"The WALdok is a small form-factor speaker/charger dock for the iPhone 3G/3GS/4 and iPod nano/classic/touch that plugs DIRECTLY into any standard wall outlet. The WALdok allows you to plug-n-play and plug-n-charge in the bathroom, kitchen, office, or anywhere there is a wall outlet. It takes complete advantage of modularity. Go from jogging with ear buds to filling the bathroom with same music in an instant!"

Very cool project and now that it's been funded, it appears your $59.00 USD or more will get you a pretty cool accessory.
