Will Your Favorite TV Shows Be Delayed?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 01:00 AM

http://www.maclife.com/article/news..._shows_post_web

"Major networks like Fox, ABC and NBC have made it easy for people like me to stay tuned to the latest television shows without spending a penny on cable, or even physically owning a television set. However, Fox's decision yesterday on how quickly it posts new episodes to the web seems to have sparked a trend, as networks like ABC are considering following suit."

I don't see this as a big problem. With the payoff being that you don't have to subscribe to cable or satellite if you don't want to, all you have to do is wait about a week for the show to air on the Internet. I pretty much never watch anything on the night or day it airs, instead I have things stack up on my DVR and watch them when I want to or when I have the time. What are your thoughts?

Has Apple Given Up on the White iPhone 4?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/28...m-online-store/

"Following another delay until spring 2011 for the white iPhone 4 and rumors that the device has been canceled altogether, Apple has now removed mention of the model from its primary ordering page for the iPhone 4 in all localizations of its online store."

I have been reading several stories over the last week about delays in production but that potentially the white iPhone 4 would make it's appearance in the Spring of 2011, but perhaps that is now wishful thinking as Apple has removed any mention of the white iPhone 4 from their pages on the online store. You can still see photos of this white iPhone in promotional shots, but it sounds like it might not ever happen. What are your thoughts? Do you think it will happen or is this a color that just isn't going to make it on the iPhone 4?

Why Wait for the White iPhone 4?

Posted by Michael Knutson in "Apple News" @ 11:00 PM

http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Mobile-and...echnology+News)

"The white iPhone 4 is being delayed until the end of 2010. And yet, Apple still wants consumers to wait for it. That's probably not the best idea."

Another somewhat inflammatory article expressing wonder at why so many potential buyers are queueing up for the white version of the iPhone 4, despite the projected long wait. Same phone, different color, is the conventional wisdom, but, with such a long delay, will it be the same phone? Is the delay because of a real antenna fix? Is the delay due to the white version being a CDMA (Verizon) version? Manufacturing difficulties? Lots of opinions and guesswork, but until Apple provides either answers, or the white iPhone 4, speculation will continue to rule.

iPhone 4 in White! Wait a Minute, Not so Fast...

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 07:41 AM

http://www.apple.com/pr/library/201...estatement.html

"White models of Apple's new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected."

And there you have it, the press release in it's entirety. I had to chuckle at the wording about the "more popular iPhone 4 black model" though, how could it not be more popular when it's the only one you have to sell?! So is the delay due to problems getting the color right or is Apple taking this opportunity to re-work the design, what are your thoughts?

You Can't Have The White iPhone 4 Until July

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 08:00 PM

http://www.macworld.com/article/152...l?lsrc=rss_main

"Well, the case of the missing white iPhone 4 has finally received a response from on high. Apple has issued a press release saying that the white model of the new device has "proven more challenging to manufacture than expected." It won't become available until the second half of July."

I would rather have a product without problems, so I'm hoping that these "difficulties" will make it a better iPhone when it finally is released. Aw, what is a month or so longer anyway right? You can read the press release here.

Trouble in Pre-Order Land

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 07:00 AM

http://9to5mac.com/pre_order_melt_d...e+Intelligence)

"AT&T this morning has "temporarily suspended" iPhone 4 pre-orders, following yesterday's widely-reported melt-down of its ordering systems. The move follows a day of chaotic scenes at computer terminals in five countries yesterday, as iPhone 4 desiring consumers fruitlessly banged their fingers against the keyboard in hope that somehow their pre-order would get through."

AT&T isn't the only place where pre-order changes are happening. Over at Apple, when I tried to pre-order a second iPhone, I got a message telling me that they have exhausted their supplies for pre-orders but I could stand in line on a first-come, first-served basis and possibly still get another iPhone 4. Oh, and for shipping, they have moved the date to July 2nd if done online. And UK, Germany and Japan have also reported pre-order glitches.

UK Ship Date Moves to July 2nd for iPhone 4

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 06:00 PM

http://9to5mac.com/node/17994?utm_s...e+Intelligence)

"On top of the other "great" news we've gotten today: no white iPhone 4, Bumpers and Dock coming a week after launch, oh and -- MASSIVE Pre-Order issues, folks in the UK will need to wait until July 2nd to get their hands on the iPhone 4, presumably if they haven't ordered yet."

The US site is still showing June 24th as the delivery date so the UK must have really had the rush. Or they had a lower limit on how many they could pre-sell.

UPDATE: Actually now the US Apple Store is showing a July 14th ship date, we are the world.

Are You Nuts?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 11:00 AM

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...e_you_nuts.html

"Apple chief executive Steve Jobs this week continued to showcase his own flavor of public relations management, asking one supporter if he was insane to suggest the company had mislead international customers with regard to iPad availability."

It could be they ran out of parts, or they wanted to delay to work on the Wi-Fi issue, or it could be planned. Who knows. But I always enjoy reading about this email responses that he sends out, and he doesn't mince words. Not the best for PR I suppose but at least you know where he stands.

International iPad Shipments Delayed

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 10:00 AM

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-2...subj=News-Apple

"Apple's iPad won't be available outside the U.S. until the end of May, a delay of one month from its original global launch date."

Sorry to our friends in other countries, but the U.S. demand was stronger than Apple thoughts so it appears you won't be getting your hands on an iPad until the end of May, but you can pre-order on Monday, May 10th.
