"The Mac Observer's Editors Choice Awards from Macworld|iWorld Expo 2012 are out, and just like previous years, there were plenty of great products for us to check out. We chose eight products that we feel represent the best of what was shown at the conference and expo for the Mac, iPhone and iPad."

Great variety of products from this year's Macworld Expo.

J.D. Power Award Goes to Apple, For the 6th Consecutive Time

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 01:34 PM

"J.D. Power and Associates has just announced the results of their annual 2011 U.S. Wireless Handset Customer Satisfaction Study. Apple has earned the top-spot on the list for the sixth consecutive time."

Say what you will, but even with the updates and model changes with all the other phones, Apple still reigns supreme when it comes to customer satisfaction. Well done Apple, now when is that iPhone 5 going to be here??

"Apple's Retina Display is one of the sexiest around, and now it's getting some official recognition."

The iPhone 4 and the iPad (original and version 2) won Display of the Year. This was given by "The Society for Information Display" and mainly focused on the In-Plane Switching Technology. You can find out more about the awards at the Society's site here, but I think we know why they got it, the displays are fantastic.

iPhone Takes 1st Place in J.D. Power Customer Satisfaction Awards...Again!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 06:30 PM

http://www.macworld.com/article/158...l#lsrc.rss_main

"Apple's iPhone has again taken first place in J.D. Power and Associates' smartphone customer satisfaction rankings. Thursday's announcement by J.D. Power was the iPhone's fifth consecutive win in the firm's semi-annual ratings."

5 wins in a row, not too shabby for a phone that Consumer Reports won't even recommend right? This time Apple was ahead of Motorola and HTC by 22 and 23 points respectively, scoring 795 out of possible 1000 points. 7,300 consumers and business users were surveyed, and it was interesting to me that the scores got higher the more the user accessed social networking services. I guess those Twitter users know a good smartphone when they have one in their hands.

iPhone 4 Wins Best Mobile Device at Mobile World Congress

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 06:26 AM

"Apple might not bother showing up at Mobile World Congress each year, but that's not stopped the iPhone 4 snaffling the ‘Best Mobile Device' award at this year's GSMA awards, held at the Barcelona-based mobile bash last night."

GSMA runs the mobile event, and despite what Consumer Reports thinks, awarded the iPhone 4 the best mobile device award. Pretty good, in spite of Apple being a no-show at the event.

Steve Jobs CEO of the Decade According to MarketWatch

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 11:10 AM

http://www.loopinsight.com/2010/12/...KqJb+(The+Loop)

"Apple CEO Steve Jobs on Tuesday was named MarketWatch's CEO of the Decade for bringing Apple out of the technology doldrums and sparking a strong of hits that have made it one of the most successful companies in the world."

You can read the MarketWatch story here, but basically they felt that Steve Jobs performance merited this award, and I can't say I disagree. All you have to do is track the stock price over the last decade and see how Apple has performed with him at the helm (from the chart they use it has gained over 4,000 %).

iPhone Tops J.D. Power Survey Again

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 07:00 AM

http://www.macworld.com/article/143...wer_iphone.html

"If there's a name associated with customer satisfaction, it's J.D. Power and Associates. I mean, come on-with a name like J.D. Power, the firm is practically the superhero of customer satisfaction. So the news that the iPhone has maintained its head-of-the-class standings in both the company's consumer and business smartphone satisfaction studies is no small matter."

The iPhone received 811 points out of 1000 possible, whereas the industry average is 765. LG was the closest out of the competition receiving 776 points. Apple, as a business, scored 803 points, followed by RIM with 724 points. The iPhone survey was from 3,221 smartphone owners, who had used their phones less than two years. For the business survey they used owners that used their phones primarily for business use. Interestingly enough, they did the surveys before the 3G and 3GS came out.

Apple Retail Wins International Award

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.ifoapplestore.com/db/200...der-win-awards/

"An international retail industry group has awarded Apple and Sr. V-P Retail Ron Johnson its highest honors for 2009, citing the company's products, customer service and fresh approach to retailing."

According to the World Retail Congress website, they were "launched in 2007 the Congress has become the annual platform for the most senior executives within the retail industry to come together to share best practice, make lasting business contacts and exchange ideas on the most crucial global issues." So this is an award at the executive level, not so much for the products as it is for the process. Regardless, its nice for Apple to be recognized as "Retailer of the Year" at this yearly conference. The other finalists for this award were Aldi, Pao de Acucar Group, Fast Retailing, Primark and Wal-Mart. I recognize Wal-Mart, not sure on the other companies but it is a "world" conference.
