TWC TV App Adds Several Sports Options

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 05:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2012/04/23/time...ports-channels/

"On Friday, Time Warner Cable added a number of national and regional sports networks to the free TWC TV app for iOS and the TWCTV.com Web portal."

If you are an Expanded Basic or higher customer with Time Warner Cable then you can access more things on your iOS device. Unfortunately, you have to be inside your home. I hate apps that restrict you to staying in your home, but if you are one of their customers it will give you mobility, with limits of course.

Apple Planning a Real TV? Let's Hope So...

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 03:30 PM

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...el_lineups.html

"Apple's anticipated full-fledged television set could offer Internet-based content subscriptions with customized channel lineups, if the company has its way."

We can only hope that Apple can convince the providers to go along, so we can truly get an "ala carte" type of subscription service. I hate paying for channels I never watch, and would totally go Internet only if sports were available without having to have a subscription to a regular content provider. What are your thoughts?

Scosche SneakPeek II for Video Output from iPad or iPhone

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 06:00 AM

http://www.macworld.com/article/154...l?lsrc=rss_main

"Photos, videos, music, all in the palm of your hand. But what if you want to share them with your friends and family? Crowding around an iPhone or even an iPad screen can be a frustrating experience. Scosche's new SneakPeek II simplifies things by letting you connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to your TV with your choice of component or composite cables."

The cable runs $59.99 USD (currently out of stock at Scosche) which is about $10.00 USD more than the one that Apple sells, but this one has the advantage of being a combo cable so you can connect via component or composite depending on your needs. This is compatible with all the models of the iPhones and iPod Touch, iPod with video, iPod classic and the third through sixth generations of iPod nanos.

Having Problems Getting That Cable to Connect With Your iPhone 4? You are not Alone!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 05:00 AM

http://www.tipb.com/2010/08/14/ipho...ne,+iPad,+iPod)

"Why won't my iPhone or iPad case work with this cable? is one of the questions we're being asked a lot lately. A naked iPhone can pretty much fit any sync, charge, or media cable you connect it with at home, at work, or on the go. When you start introducing some types of cases, however, and add in different kinds of cables - all bets are off."

I ran into this problem with my iPhone 4, the cable wouldn't stay connected unless I was using the specific cable that came with the iPhone 4. Kind of annoying as this meant my days of just grabbing any cable were over if I wanted to use it with my iPhone 4 when it was in a protective case. If you read the article, you can also pick up one of these cables at 50% off via TiPb. Well, I guess you don't have to actually read the article, you can just scroll down to the part about the deal on a cable if you so desire.

Video Cable for iPhone and iPods Now Available

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 09:07 AM

http://www.ezgear.com/iPod/ezGearVideoCable.html

"The ezGear Video Cable for new iPod & iPhone allows you to play movies, music videos, TV shows, You Tube Clips, or Pictures stored on your newer iPod on any TV or ezVision Video Glasses. The ezGear Video Cable is part of the made for iPod program and incorporates Apple's Dock Connector with the new Authentification chip. The included a USB connector that allows you to keep your iPod powered while you watch. The USB connector can also be connected to your computer to sync your iPod or iPhone with iTunes."

The obvious plus here is that it's part of the Made for iPod program, meaning you won't have compatibility issues with it. At $40.00, the price is on par with what Apple charges for theirs, and frankly I may grab one just for trips for work; I've missed having that cable available to me since I got my iPhone.
