Shrine of Apple, Get Your Fanboy (or Girl) Fix

"The Shrine of Apple website is worth a look for the diehard Apple fan who wants to reminisce about Apple's product history."

This is a very well done site, even if there are some voids in the product line. The photos are fantastic, and it also gives you background on the products that Apple has produced. Worth checking out.

Let's Run Through the Evolution of the Apple Laptop Shall We?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Classic Apple" @ 03:00 AM

"Word of an imminent MacBook refresh of some sort appear every day. Whether it be a new MacBook Air or the revamping of Apple's most popular laptop, it's interesting to take a look at how the design of the portable Mac has evolved over time."

The iBook G3 pictured above was the first one I ever had any hands on time with, as one of my co-workers brought hers in one night to work. I was still on the fence until they came out with the G4 Titanium in slide 10. Sold! Interesting retrospective of all the laptops over the years and it is fitting with all the rumors lately of a MacBook Air refresh. Which Apple laptop was your first?

Step Back in Time

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Classic Apple" @ 02:00 AM

"The Apple Newton MessagePad, Apple's ‘failed' PDA, is sitting on my desk. It's a late model 2100, which was the last iteration Newton MessagePad to ship back in 1998. Every time I use one, I immediately think of a tablet computer, both because of its size and functionality: it's much more than just a small, simple PDA."

This is an interesting article, detailing Apple's history with tablets, back to 1979. I remember seeing the Newton for the first time back in the early 90's, thinking this would be a great gadget to have, but I never did pull the trigger and buy one. Check out the picture of the P2 Portable from 1989, and imagine yourself walking around with one like that. Funny right?

iPod Lineup Makeover

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 08:00 AM

There were some hits and misses with the rumor mill, so lets get into it and see just what was revealed by the man behind the curtain.

iPod Touch Revamped

Since this was a music event, the upgrades to the iPod lineup were expected, and for the most part didn't disappoint. Let's start with the iPod Touch. The price was dropped on the 8GB model to $199.00 USD, $30 cheaper than before, and the 16GB and 32GB models doubled their memory without an increase in price. The 32GB version is $299.00 USD and the 64GB model is $399.00. According to Apple, the 32GB and 64GB versions are 50% faster and have OpenGL ES 2.0 support.

Better Than Plumber School: Pipe Mania

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 06:01 AM

The Claim: Pipe Mania is a game that needs no introduction. This hugely popular game has been ported to various platforms like PC, DS, PSP, Wii before making its way to the iPhone. In this game, the player is provided with pipes of different shapes, which he must lay onto a grid to form a connection between a tap and a drain. He must do this before the time runs out and a slimy green liquid called Flooze oozes out of the pipes.

The App: Available today, Pipe Mania is another clone of the popular Pipe Dreams game that has graced many platforms over the years. Many have tried to produce similar games on the iPhone / iPod Touch, but none of them are playable. Is Pipe Mania the one to break the mold? Read on and find out. Read more...

Welcome To Newton: Original Welcome Video

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Classic Apple" @ 10:00 AM

I've always said that the only reason the Newton failed was because it was too far ahead of its time to succeed. I'll never be convinced otherwise. Enjoy this trip down memory lane, and remember; this video is only 20 or so years old. Look how far we've come (and at the same time look how much has stayed similar or the same) since!
