"Printing from the iPad is easy with AirPrint, but is it really as easy as Apple boasts? Only if you have the right printer. But which is the right printer? And once you get it installed how do you print? Well stop worrying, and just sit back, relax and grab your iPad for some notes, because I'm going to tell you everything you need to know about AirPrint."

Step-by-step on how to make AirPrint work with your iPad. Short and to the point, so if you want to learn about it quickly, this video is your answer. As a bonus they also discuss apps that are compatible as well as some that can work around the "compatible printer" issue in case you want to print photos and aren't using one of the printers on the compatible list (printing text still limited to AirPrint and the compatible printers on the list at Apple.

Find Out How Podcast

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 10:00 AM

"For some time, Apple has given the Designated Family Tech Support Personnel among us a small reprieve with its "Find out how" selection of tutorial videos. While they don't really tackle inevitable questions like "was deleting ~/Library/Keychains a bad idea?," they serve as succinct primers for The Way of the Mac and Apple's various apps and services."

You can still go direct to Apple and view the video series, or you can head on over to iTunes and download a podcast. Just search iTunes for "Apple find out how" and you will get the list of nine podcasts that include iWork '09, MobileMe and iTunes.

"Matt Fisher is a 16 year old high school junior and Apple enthusiast who has been putting up tutorial videos on all things Macintosh since December of 2008. I just saw one that is so good I wanted to bring it to your attention."

This is a pretty good quick look at some of the "hidden features" of Snow Leopard. The video is only 4 1/2 minutes long, and he has several more listed on his YouTube channel.

Wanna Write an App?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.businessinsider.com/how-...one-apps-2009-2

"Thousands of software developers are selling apps in Apple's iPhone App Store, and many are making big bucks off it. How to get started? iPhone app veteran Craig Hockenberry, whose Iconfactory sells a few top iPhone apps -- including Twitterrific (Twitter app) and Frenzic (fun game) -- has published an excellent primer."

I've seriously thought about writing an application just to test the waters, and this primer on it is nice in that it walks you through the steps if you aren't sure where exactly to start. I'm not saying it convinced me to write one, but it was nice to see what I need to do if I ever decide to get away from the Xbox 360 and "do something productive."
