General Pre-Order Available Now for the Verizon iPhone

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 06:02 AM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2011/02/...n-iphone-order/

"Following a first round of pre-orders limited to Verizon customers last week, Apple has now released the Verizon iPhone for general pre-order."

That is, if you don't want to brave the lines on the 10th at the brick and mortar stores, and are willing to wait until the 18th for delivery.

Now You Have to Wait Until February 9th to get Your Verizon iPhone

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 01:47 PM

http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/arti...rds_in_2_hours/

"Verizon began accepting pre-orders for Apple's iPhone 4 at 3AM on Thursday, and by 5AM had already broken all of its first full day sales records for a single device. The company processed so many orders that it, along with Apple, stopped accepting new pre-orders before the end of the day."

Well impressive, and it appears without a glitch other than having to shut down the pre-ordering earlier than they expected, but that isn't a bad thing. Well, unless you were hoping to be one of those pre-ordering. At 8:10pm Eastern they shut the operation down, and according to Verizon Wireless President Dan Mead "in our first two hours, we had already sold more phones than any first day launch in our history." Most impressive when you consider it was only open to existing customers and still claimed that record. No details on numbers yet, and I wonder how they will compare on February 9th and 10th when it is open to everyone. If you want to get in on this the online ordering starts at 3am on February 9th, and the stores (Verizon, Apple, Best Buy and Wal-Mart) will open up at 7am on February 10th if you want to brave the lines.

Demand Outstrips Capability for iPhone 4

"Apple: "More than 600,000" iPhones pre-ordered."

Granted, that is a huge number for pre-orders, but you would have thought after the problems they have had in the past with iPhone orders, they would have been more prepared. Reports are that it was world-wide so it wasn't isolated to just the US, but it still doesn't excuse the lack of pre-planning in my opinion.

AT&T Runs Out of iPhone 4s for Launch Day

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 04:32 PM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2010/06/...nes-launch-day/

"That's it folks, we've just been told by an AT&T rep that apparently, the carrier just ran out of iPhones 4 for launch day. In consequence, all orders placed from now will normally only be available between the 25th of June and the 5th of July."

I tried numerous times, even on Apple's website, and was out of luck for pre-order, so I'll be hoofing it into an Apple Store on launch day to buy one. Not only was this a rough day when trying to do a pre-order, it also appears AT&T might have another security problem according to Gizmodo via Apple Insider. We'll see how that security problem turns out soon I'm sure, but it is good to see such a high interest in the new iPhone. I'm just hoping that there a few left when I go to get in line for mine!

Yea, I'd Pre-Order That Nifty iPhone 4 But...

"'I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.' Remember the scene from 2001 when astronaut Dave Bowman couldn't get the rogue computer running Discovery to respond to his commands?"

The image above is what I get on AT&T site, and on Apple I never get past the selection screen for black 16GB or 32GB, but it appears I'm not the only one having problems. How about you? Any problems pre-ordering your iPhone 4 today?

Reserve Any Color You Want, As Long As It's Black!

"...there's some doubt as to whether or not AT&T is going to have any white iPhones on stock for launch day (or in the coming days after)."

Well there is no doubt at Apple, as you can see from the screenshot above when I checked on pre-ordering an iPhone 4. No word yet on when the white iPhone 4's will be available, but it sounds like they won't even be available on launch day.

Which iPhone 4 Are You Going to Reserve?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 10:30 AM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2010/06/iphone-4-buy/

"It's decision time: 16 or 32? Of course, I am talking about whether you should purchase the $199 iPhone 4 with 16 GB of flash memory space or will you need the 32 GB model and pay Apple $299? The answer to that question depends on how you anticipate that you will be using the new device."

One perspective on which version iPhone 4 you might need. I tend to agree that the 16GB is probably good for most people, even with some video thrown in, at least that is what I am leaning towards. What version are you going to pre-order?

Where Will You Go to Pre-Order Your iPhone 4 Tomorrow?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 08:30 AM

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...e_tomorrow.html

"Best Buy announced Monday that it will be an authorized participant in Apple's iPhone 4 pre-launch on Tuesday, in which customers can visit one of its retail locations to reserve one of the new handsets for pickup the following week."

And not only Best Buy, but Radio Shack and of course AT&T and Apple will let you pre-order your iPhone 4 tomorrow. Wal-Mart isn't on the pre-order list however, but you have plenty of options regardless of where you live in the U.S. to order your iPhone. I'm still undecided, I have Best Buy, AT&T and an Apple Store all close to me. Where are you going to pre-order your iPhone 4?

Get Your Ten-Pack of iPads!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 09:00 AM

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2010/03/...l-institutions/

"There has been quite a lot of speculation around Apple's capacity to face demand for the iPad. The latest to date, their decision to limit iPad pre-orders to two units per customer, might however not be the presage we believed it was."

If you are an accredited educational institution it appears you can indeed get yourself a ten-pack of iPads, and a discount of about $20.00 USD per iPad.

iPad Pre-Order Total Tops 150,000

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 09:00 AM

http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/arti...ated_at_152000/

"Investor Village's AAPL Sanity board, which requires a subscription to view its content, on Monday noted that iPad pre-orders dropped from an estimated 25,000 per hour on Friday, the first day of availability, to around 1,000 per hour over the weekend. For the three-day period, the cumulative total was estimated at 152,000."

Quite the demand, in fact the pre-order number total for the iPad is more than the number of Google Nexus One phones that have sold in the last 74 days. If you want to get your pre-order listed in the tally, email ipadsales10@gmail.com with the number of ipads ordered, order time, time zone, memory capacity and the order number (make sure the last 3 digits of the order number is deleted). Wonder how this will compare to the 3G version, any thoughts?

Time to Line Up, iPad Goes on Sale April 3rd!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 01:15 PM

http://www.macworld.com/article/146...l_mwnws_h_crawl

"The wait for the iPad is, er, well, it's just beginning I suppose. On Friday, Apple announced that the new device would go on sale on Saturday, April 3 in the U.S. Customers who want to pre-order can put in their claim on March 12-just a week away, so get your clicking fingers ready."

Again, this is only the Wi-Fi version so I expect you will have to wait until late April for the 3G versions to roll out. Countries outside the U.S., specifically Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, and the U.K. per Apple, will have to wait until the end of April for either one. On March 12th you can pre-order either version from the Apple online store. Here is the press release if you are interested. Better start saving now!

Amazon Taking Pre-Orders for Snow Leopard

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.9to5mac.com/snow-leopard...hip-amazon-sale

"Just another sign that Apple's next generation OS is right around the corner, 9to5mac affiliate Amazon has begun taking pre-orders for Snow Leopard. The product is slated to ship in September and starts at $29 for a single user upgrade from Leopard."

All with pre-order price guarantees and free shipping, so if you don't have to have it the day it is released, this is a pretty good deal. The family pack is selling for $49.00 USD, and if you want to box set the program with iWork and iLife, the single user is $169.00 USD (family pack would be $229.00 USD).
