How Many of These Apple Easter Eggs Have You Seen?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 02:30 PM

"Apple has a history of placing easter eggs -- hidden, and sometimes funny objects, text, or apps -- in their hardware and software over the years."

This is what you saw inside the Macintosh 128 in 1984, signatures of the team done inside the case. I think the funniest is the blue screen of death icon when the network detected a Windows PC connected. Of course, the best is the Sosumi egg, interesting story indeed! What is your favorite?

iPhone 5 Commercial From Conan O'Brien

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 07:43 AM

"Conan O'Brien, on his TBS show "Conan," addressed reports that an Apple Inc. engineer last week left a working iPhone 5 prototype in a bar where it promptly disappeared."

Who knew Apple had a torture department?

The Onion Unveils Their iPad App

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 04:00 AM!5788205/

"In a tremendously fitting move, The Onion has released its native iPad app on April Fool's Day."

A free app available now, this app written in HTML 5 gives you all the news, videos and pictures from the web and the related TV show...right there on your iPad. The New York Times has a piece about this app also, and what strikes me as pretty darn funny is they announced it on April Fool's Day. Go figure coming from them right?

Get Your Golden iTicket!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Talk" @ 04:00 AM

"This might be the best Apple parody video to date."

It is rather funny.

Zune Man Spared by Steve Jobs!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Talk" @ 04:00 AM

"It's no secret that Steve Jobs isn't a fan of the physical CD, preferring of course that his customers buy their music in his iTunes store. But what length is he willing to go to get rid of the CD for good?"

Robot Chicken comes up with some winners every now and then, just like this one. I love the comment at the end by the passerby: "I think it's a pager."

Did You Make Any Resolutions? Steve Did...

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Talk" @ 09:30 PM

"Did you make any new years resolutions? It looks like Steve Jobs sure did, he marked down very reachable goals for 2011 on a napkin. Sounds like it'll be a good year for him!"

A little bit of humor, meant to post this earlier in the week, but it is still funny.

Protect Yourself With Stun Fone!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 04:00 AM

"People like to joke about the fact that there is an app for just about everything, including shaving or toasting bread. There are even plenty of novelty apps that make your iPhone look like it's making coffee or that it's a stun gun. Next time you hear someone bring up the latter, don't make fun of them right away, as the joke could be on you."

I would prefer a laser.

Scoopertino Has Your Halloween Costume

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Classic Apple" @ 10:00 AM

"The guys at Scoopertino have the exclusive details on Apple's "next big product launch." According to them, "Apple is making a multimillion-dollar bet" that you'll want it, too. Apple is set to release their first ever clothing line, dubbed "iWear," which lets you dress exactly like Steve Jobs. The iWear line will consist of a mock black turtleneck, jeans, gray New Balance 991 sneakers, and a pair of non-prescription Steve Jobs-style glasses. Apple will push the new iWear clothing line with the ad campaign slogan: 'Be Like Steve.'"

Head on over to the Scoopertino site for the whole story, it's pretty funny I must say and the guys at the Mac satire news site have outdone themselves this time.

Best Idea for an iPad Mount? No, But it Sure is Funny!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 02:57 PM

"This has to be the worst iPad car mount solution I have ever seen, which is exactly why it's so funny. It's actually a joke product called the iArm Forearm Mount, and the product itself doesn't exist, but you can buy the box and fool your friends anyway if you feel like wasting $8 on some cardboard with amusing pictures."

Can you imagine seeing someone wearing this while driving? Glad it is just a joke, with an empty box instead of the actual item, or I'm sure people would be using it. You can find out more about the gag gift at iArm. From the looks of the photos on the site, you could have also used it to hold your dinner plate.

iPod Ninja!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPods" @ 03:00 AM

"We here at TUAW fortunately passed on reporting the obviously fake story of Steve Jobs being denied access to Japan because of ninja stars he was reportedly carrying in his luggage. But we did like this fake Apple page from the folks at Scoopertino, featuring the iPod ninja, a brand new throwing star-shaped iPod. If Steve was carrying around ninja stars (and he wasn't), maybe he was just testing a more weaponized iPod prototype."

Nice! This would have been perfect for Steve Jobs when he got himself into this situation.

Nightmare Time! Dad Gets an iPhone

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 06:00 AM

"It's every child's worst fear - teaching their parents how to use technology! Perhaps it's payback for adolescence. SuperNews! offer up this hilarious look at what happens when Dad gets an iPhone."

Pretty funny, and I can relate to this if it were to happen to me with my Dad. But I am pretty confident he won't get an iPhone, he's pretty happy with his Jitterbug. Yea, a Jitterbug, but I'm just happy he has a cell phone.

Bonus Feature for iPhone 4G

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 12:00 PM

"Think you already know all the new iPhone 4G will do?"

I'm sure by now you have seen the 2nd sighting of a 4G iPhone, this one from Vietnam, but I haven't seen any of the added features until this one. As an avid coffee drinker, this is fantastic news!

Is Your Password On The List? If So, Perhaps You Should Change It...

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 12:00 PM

"Back at the dawn of the Web, the most popular account password was "12345." Today, it's one digit longer but hardly safer: '123456.'"

I had to laugh when I read the list, my first guess was "password" as the most popular but it lost out to 123456, followed by 12345 and 123456789. Incredible.

Kevin Smith Fan? Yea, There's An App For That

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 08:00 AM

"Kevin Smith, the often praised writer/director/actor, now has his own official iPhone app thanks to developer DenVog."

You might as well hear it from the man himself: "'Yes, it may be the Pet Rock of the 21st century. But be honest: you've spent .99 cents on way dumber crap. If you're remotely into my nonsense, at the very least, this me-centric app will make you smile. At the very most, you'll put a noose around your neck, utter "It's all for you, Official Kevin Smith iPhone App!", and step off a ledge. Let's hope your reaction's somewhere betwixt the two.' - Kevin Smith."

I have to agree, I've wasted $0.99 USD on a lot of crap, this one is pretty entertaining (yes, I did buy it and yes I'm a fan), and as a bonus you get a custom ringtone (iPhone only and available now on iTunes). On another note, if you haven't heard, he will be hosting a Q&A at Macworld 2010 about technology and it's uses in independent film making.

I Haz a New Bed!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Classic Apple" @ 11:00 AM

""I'm more of a dog person, but the "Cats Love Macs" photo stream on Flickr is one of my guilty pleasures. (Yeah, I know)."

Reminds me of the aquarium that was built using an old Mac SE. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind having one of those aquariums. It is almost Christmas, maybe I'll send myself one.

iPhone and Toilet Don't Mix

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 08:00 AM

"Faithful German Macenstein reader Tim Schiller came across this listing on eBay for what can only be described as 'THE must-have iPhone accessory of 2009'."

It is funny, at least to me, that his wife dropped her iPhone in the toilet twice and all it took was this little sign to remind her that no, it isn't the place to put your iPhone. At least that is the story. Act fast if you want one, he only has 8 left, at least he had that may when I went to the site on Tuesday.

Bobble Heads in the iTunes Store

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 10:00 AM

"At least someone at Apple has a sense of humor. Less than a week after the iPhone Developer Program rejected as "objectionable" and "defamatory" an application illustrated with caricatures of U.S. Senators and Congressmen, the company has reversed itself and approved the app."

This is a pretty funny app, if you like Bobble Heads. The caricatures were done by Mad Magazine artist Tom Richmond and he did a fantastic job on them. The app sells for $0.99 USD.

A New Place to Store Those Old Copies of Windows

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Other Apple Hardware" @ 09:00 AM

"We've long heard jokes of the iCar, the iToilet, and other iCrap, but until now we'd never seen a real, working example of one of these things. Well, here's your iToilet, gang. It doesn't connect to the internet in less than three steps, but it does connect to a series of tubes."

I'm just kidding of course about storing your old Windows discs here. It would clog the tubes. You can see more examples of custom toilets at Rival Toilets, if you are so inclined.
